Agreed, I4 would suit this car equally well as a V6 or I6. Most cars from that era of this class had I4s in the base-models, usually a 1.6 and 1.8l with 90-110 and 130-150 hp respectively. Then add a supercharger on the 1.8 and you've got the same power out put as the highest factory engine option, for half the price of an engine swap :')

Quote came from another thread, but still.

Also, I agree with Bakasan, a big turbo would be fine too. Heck, I'd be fine with the stock engine for now.

Some sort of turbo or v6 engine swap would be more realistic to life in this case. Because in real life, you couldn't just slap in a truck's v8 and expect it to be perfect. I agree with everyone saying it should have a turbo more over a v8 swap. ;)

    It has a turbo.

Chevy ls1 swaps into anything else (even a miata) are pretty common.

The math is pretty simple and straight forward. Small car + Big engine = Fast car.

Not in USDM standard form, but rather a bolt on modification;)
    'Murica...
It's not quite that simple. Small car + big engine = screwed up weight distribution = hella understeer. You need to have control with your power;)

Not really. Perfect example: KA24DE weights 168 kgs LS3 weights 183 kgs.
I don't know how much does the Gavril v8 weight but it shouldn't be a problem.
And about handling. I think gabe will be smart enough to give it wider tires and a neat widebody to hide those tires.

If the person knows how to do an engine swap, I'm sure the person has the ability to correct understeer.

With 300lbs/ft of torque at any rpm, I would like to think that the oversteer would overcome the understeer.

Reading what rubiespeed said has left me with about 5 minutes of pure facepalm

OT: I can't wait for this car, all the turbo and engine swap talk has made me hungry for shredding rubber.

Turbo* Supercharger won't suit well on this kind of car.

Weld technically turbo is short for turbine-supercharger anyway. But yeah, few jdm vehicles seem to go for plain supercharging, a few have been though and a few even go for compound turbo and supercharging.

It sort of looks like s13(180sx/200sx/240sx) Nissan, so I would like to see these engines:

    1.8L turbo stock ~170 HP
    1.8L turbo Stage 2 ~ 250 HP
    1.8L turbo Stage 3 ~ 300 HP
    2.0L turbo stock ~ 200hp
    2.0L turbo stage 1 ~ ?
    2.0L turbo stage 2 ~ ?
    ..
2.4L Silly american naturally aspirated... ~ 150 HP
+ versions of turbocharged versions of these maybe
