I know, and that's what concerned me. I was thinking more that @atomspeed123 would build the body off of the frame, giving it a unibody effect.

Now, the XJ Cherokee does have a unibody construction, that much I know from having the one outside. It does have a frame, and that's why I've modelled it, but it's welded directly to the body in one structual piece, rather than being separate. You will not be able to separate the frame from the body in-game, as it will be part of the same break group and mesh as the body, to act like the real car.

So no, it won't be body-on-frame, since the Cherokee isn't built like that. It will be integtrated, hence why I'm still modelling it.

If you need any reference on the geometry of the vehicle or textures / texture mapping let me know, I happen to own a very pampered '96 Cherokee SE that still has 95% of the interior and misc stickers and such in mint condition and would love to help the project.

Thanks! I will let you know if I need any help with this :D. Some of my XJ's engine bay stickers are a bit deteriorated, and the pre-97 ones may be different, so I might need your help in the future.

I've just stumbled upon this... It's very interesting...

    1990 Jeep Freedom Concept.
They also made a Targa and showed it at the 1985 Chicago Auto Show:

These are quite considerable body styles on the list!

I have, but none of it's finished. The tailgate is WIP, the hood is WIP, the roof is WIP and the outer front door is done, but still WIP as a whole door.

The roof line at the back has been fixed, and I'm working my way downwards on the shell:

A lot of progress has been made today! Looking forward to tomorrow, where I'm going to do more of the front end and a bit more work on the roof.

Some more mesh progress has been made. The hood has been fixed, and the front fenders modelled, as well as more of the rear quarters.
The front 'clip' (grill/lights etc) is coming next.

Loving the progress so far! :D This mod reminds me of a Cherokee off-roader mod from 2013. Also, what spec / normal maps will the body be mapped with?

By maps, do you mean liveries? If so yes, there will be liveries as the Cherokee did come with different paint jobs for different models.
Also, bear in mind that that red crawler you're thinking about was a ZJ Grand Cherokee, but I can see where you're coming from. This will have a crawler config eventually, but many stock configs as well.

The body is just a few polygons and you ask about maps? It's like looking at a concept sketch and asking what will be the car's gear ratios.

The basic frame has been put into the game, and I made a JBeam for it, being sturdy and tough. I've got to grips with it quite well now.
But I've hit a snag. No matter how hard I try, the leaf spring hanger flexbody (the only one in blackfoot_suspension_R) will not show and gives no error messages. I simply cannot get it to work.
The JBeam file is linked, if anyone wants to try and find what's wrong with it, feel free. It looks like the game just isn't loading it.

Mines slightly modified but it's in hibernation in my garage for another month or so feel free to pm me with any questions or reference pictures you might need. I can also get sounds if you want something a little more aggressive than the hopper sounds. Id love to help model and texture if youd like a hand
