I'm hoping for a square-lamped version like the YJ Wrangler.

I like it, and I'm sure they'll deliver a superb quality vehicle as usual but... I'm unconvinced by the idea of branding it as an Ibishu, being so blatantly similar to the Jeep Wrangler...

I know on the wiki page, it mentions both the Wrangler and the Toyota FJ40.

To me the front end definitely looks similar to the Toyota FJ40. In a way, the Hopper is kinda like a cross between the two SUVs.

It would be great with a diesel engine too. Even better with a turbodiesel.

But this is supposed to be off-road capable. I am thinking more of a crawler kind of version.

Hopper looks like early/mid 2000s vehicle.

The FJ40 is a japanese design of the late '60s. By that time, most japanese design were still heavily influenced (i.e. copied) by western designs, the FJ40 bearing striking similarities with both the Jeep CJ and the original Land Rover being no exception.

I'd expect an accomplished marque such as Ibishu to steer away from blatant imitation in the 2000s, and to have developed a design language of their own, like the real-life japanese manufacturers did during the '80s.

When I think of spartan japanese offroaders, small Suzukis come to mind, not a Wrangler TJ clone...

I like the styling, although I hope the wheel fenders will be a removable/shallower optional, because they scream I'm-a-Wrangler a bit too loud (especially the rear ones). I also hope its size is more on the Jimny side than the modern Wrangler size, for a further differentiation from the Roamer/D-Series. But I know the proposed engine sizes are way too large to fit in a small thing like the Jimny.
If it gets the 6-lug option ('cause 35s), an aftermarket ludicrous ride height suspension system and extremely short gearing, it will make my day even if it's larger than I wish :)
Add a square headlight variant with large sidepipes instead of the running boards on top of that, and OMG NISSAN PATROL (with front fenders? lol)

Legran. It has engine and drivetrain, which the hopper does not have.

The wiki references a post made in June 10th. Things could have changed since then.

But he would change it if it was false. Plus the legran has alot more done to it so it will most likely be next
