Hello, I've always wanted to do cinematics using the game, but find myself often limited by my hardware (high quality footage will barely reach 30fps). I originally started doing cinematics in Trackmania. This game has a replay editor and a camera path tool very similar to BeamNG's but also offers to the possibility to render in any rezolution, with any codec. It’s a very useful feature when it comes to obtaining great quality. I have no idea how hard that would be to implement within the game, but it would seriously be a game-changer when making customized shots. Hoping to see that in the future
You could probably do this manually, to a degree, by dropping the speed (e.g. half or quarter speed). Then you could set the resolution. But I agree it would be a nice feature. Would be good if it would increase the draw distance for this too.
Slowing down the game could certainly be a solution to get a decent amount of fps. But a renderer would allow me to render a video with a resolution superior to my monitor's poor 1080p, which is one of my main issues currently
Can you use a super resolution? I have a 1080p monitor, but I always play beamNG on 2k (it improves the anti-aliasing issues). It wouldn't help your real-time lagging, and may make it unplayable if you're struggling already, but it might be alright at a reduced speed. All a bit of a workaround though, so would be good to have an in-built system.
Would really love a renderer for videos. Feels a bit chancy and hacky recording a screen. Though I would like to leave a positive of saying every game needs a replay editor. It’s super limiting to showcase a game without it.
