30% of $24.99 is $7.497. The old BeamNG price was $15 without gratuity so in reality the price for BeamNG today is $17.49. An increase of $2.49 per copy of BeamNG is a fantastic investment considering the amount of continuing free content by the developer AND the quality mods. I paid $20 at the start, have gotten a lot of good stuff, a continuing visual arts education, a great community of fellow psycho car crashers/ car enthusiasts, and most of all my dream of realtime, realistic vehicle deformation at my command. Last thing on this little rant, The op says this is all insane, I will tell you what's insane: Spending hundreds of dollars over decades on shit content by shit profit obsessed developers who torture and tease gamers with the mirage of "realtime" damage lies and gimmickry. Okay, I feel better now.
It's a fair price. Heck, I'd pay 60 bloody Euros for this. BTW, this game has the best developers ever. The average game publisher or whatever the correct term is would have charged 10 € for the Sunburst... and the 200BX... and Hirochi Raceway... and 50€ for the three in a single pack+ a silly wallpaper of an office worker eating celery
Lol.....not to mention the amount of personal attention the devs are providing in these forums. Serious level of commitment and "drive".
Yea these devs always try to help people in the forums even the ones that complain in a mean way. Thank you to all the great devs
I've paid much more for much worse. It's not that much considering the quality of the game, the fact that it's the only game like that on the market, and you're directly helping fund the lives of what, 7-10 developers? It's not like you're coughing up cash to some big monolithic AAA studio.
I have no clue how anyone could possibly complain about the pricing of a great, regularly updated game showcasing incredible technology when it's a measly $25. $25 is dinner at a midrange restaurant. Stop being so goddamn cheap.
Big bucks don't always give big results. $60 is the fare for a one way trip on the hype train. Many recent Need for Speed games have shown this - you're pretty much paying for the glitz and packaging on yet another brain fart from an evil, out-of-touch, idea-bankrupt studio. EA knows it can get away with charging you $60 for a rushed, "zero rat's rumps given" mixture of warmed-over content and ideas with a few new ones of mixed quality, because they're a big-name company peddling a big-name franchise. Hot Pursuit 2010 was good, but now the "Burnout NFS" concept is starting to get just a wee bit old and apparently Ghost Games didn't feel like changing that formula. NFS is now an increasingly lost and aimless mess, pleasing neither the Underground-Undercover heavy-customization fans nor the old school "hot cars, country roads" fans, because they insist on trying endless and stupid new ideas rather than going back to something that worked before. BeamNG, well, I hope they're making enough on the game to live long and prosper, but they don't quite have the privilege yet of going "we deserve 60 bucks because that's just what video games cost now!" Someday they probably will, and if they don't lose sight of the customer, their games will really be worth 60 bucks.
There has been alot of content added since the early days (most of us probably dont realize how far its come because we are used to constant incremental updates), plus its sort of a bonus for the people that jumped on early and saved a few dollars
I got it in late 2013 for $15, and then earlier this year I believe it went up to $20, and now with the Steam release it's $25. Even though I personally didn't have to pay as much for it as I would now, I still think this pricing is more than fair. I would have paid that much for the game if I had to, back then. The game has brought more entertainment than it costs as far as I'm concerned. Plus just look at how much it's changed since back in 2013. Just to sum it up briefly, the UI is entirely different and very much improved upon, there's many new vehicles and props, a handful of new maps, and a ton of physics and gameplay features. Not to mention the countless bug fixes and optimizations that have been going on throughout it's entire development. Also consider that the game is still in an early stage. You're paying for constant updates and fixes, more future content, and in the end, a finished game that will surely cost more than $25. I believe the price increase is more than appropriate.
I personally don't mind monetarily supporting a game developer. Especially one that is making a game I had a vision for. At $25 dollars, this game is one hell of a value!
In the beginning the game was sorta like a concept demo. Now it's a game with a lot of content. The difference is huge. The original price was low. Now, it's still relatively low. Stop abusing the English language, the word insane is a total outsider and misfit her, get it back to it's natural habitat. It does not belong here, the poor little word.
