What makes non-car people dislike car people is how they associate us with dumb kids who street race and shit. It's the few bad apples in the car community that ruin it for the many that are responsible and actually know how to behave like adults. I was at H20i, a car event in OC, Maryland, and most of the people there were respectful and were there to look at other's craftsmanship and socialize. Then there were a few revving their shitboxes and doing burnouts. So now us responsible car guys are getting pulled over just because our cars are modified. But you can't get a ticket if you weren't doing dumb shit :)

Oh hey, fellow Marylander! I haven't heard about H20i in Ocean City, though. When is it?
And to add to the topic, I agree. Modifying your car in itself isn't a crime, but I have seen lots of people do dumb things on the highways around here with their clearly modified cars

Yeah, a few people rip things off their car and lower them to the point where they may as well actually sit half way in the ground, ruining it for the rest of us. To the point where alot of people see modifications that actually make your car safer as a bad thing. Such as a roll cage, or racing seats, for example.

Global warming is a real threat. The world works on a cycle of hot and cold, but were speeding up the warming, making the "Hot" Intensify in 100 years what is should of increased in more then a 1000.

Global warming is real, but humans can't speed it up significantly and neither can they significantly decelerate it. The Earth has been much warmer in the past and (primal) humans had no problem with that. Then, the Ice Age came and climate became cold. After the Ice Age, temperatures began to slowly rise to pre-Ice Age level and this process is still going on as it has been for centuries. What bad can happen if the temperature reaches, albeit 10 times faster than it supposedly should? Mass extinction? They had happened multiple times already, that's how nature works. (Mass extinction is already happening, but climate change isn't the key factor, deforestation and loss of other biotopes are). Sea level rise and flooding of coastal areas? These areas had already been under water some time ago.
Destruction of natural biotopes, human overpopulation, exhaustion of fossil fuels our economy is based on, sea pollution etc are much more serious problems than the climate change everyone goes nuts over.

Good luck getting that through some people. I mean, why'd I'd rather not see it, I'd like a number of the amount of people who think the world is flat.

I'm from PA lol, but a group of us goes down every year. It's usually around the mid/end of September for about a week, most of the action being on Friday and Saturday. The only problems were the immature dumbasses doing stupid stuff I guess trying to look cool? But it's such a great time and you should go next year seeing that you're in Maryland :D
I don't agree with you about the roll cage and stuff like that. Unless it's made out of pvc and tape, I've never seen anyone look at a nice roll cage in disgust lol.

I don't think car culture will ever die out because maybe cars can switch from gas to vegetable oil or water and be more efficient than gas and prevent global warming.

    1) Its expensive (and more now to fines etc)
    2) Illegal (kind of, due to low speed limits avg speed cameras etc)
    3) Driving is a chore now in most places, there are too many people on the road, anywhere there is no traffic its a speed limit with AVG speed cameras.
    4) High performance cars have high tax
    5) Insurance is REALLY expensive on young people here in the UK, like someone i know got quoted £3000/yr for a 1.2 Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa... so blackboxes are the only way for some, and that means driving like a granny.

Why do you have such expensive insurance? What are you doing there in UK, crashing into each other 24/7? In my home country, insurance for a Cadillac Seville STS with 4.6 litres and 8 cylinders of pure democracy costs $563/year.

insurance is a bit of a monopoly here in the UK, you are law bound to it so insurance companies squeeze every last penny out of you, although here in Colchester the driving is shit anyway, people don't know what indicators are, any indicating drivers are people on their test!

Switch Colchester with New York City and that sounds like American Car Insurance squeezing every penny out of my pocket but as soon something happens where you need them "Sorry but we can't help you now" bitch I know you're richer than Trump I pay half of my paycheck and you can't help.
