Hi, I'm having issues with my mod. Being scratch built, I don't know all the tricks used by BeamNG developers to create stable suspensions. So, I'm reaching out to the forums. This is just a thread about the suspension issues. The problems are as listed: 1. The rear suspension inverts under pressure. 2. The steering collapses or deforms after a crash. 3. The rear wheels shake under braking pressure. Also, the engine seems to have way too little power even for an 80 horse. And the differential ratios had to be changed to 10.6 because of ratio issues. Not sure what's happening here.
Looks like youre off to a good start! Couple things that might help: 1. Adjust the "beamShortBound" values on your rear springs so they hit the spring limit before they are able to invert like that 2. Check your node weights (will help with your power problem as well as the strength) it currently weighs nearly 5500 pounds without doors or anything where as a real one weighs a total of only 3000 pounds 3. As for the front suspension collapsing, the rear shaking, ect. you just need to make those components stronger (higher beamSpring, and use a realistic beamDamp value, using a value too high or even far too low can cause instability) Small note for this, if you cannot make the beams strong enough without causing instability you may need to make the nodes for just your suspension components a bit heavier 3. Check your vehicles scale, its far too large for a little jimny currently. Not that this will help with your problems, but itll be easier to fix it now rather than later
Alright, I'm back with a new set of problems The suspension wobbles way too much now, and the steering does too. I tried adding extra arms to the axle center nodes without luck. It just locks up the whole suspension. And the vehicle leans to the right for some reason I can't figure out. Anyways, I'll upload my current build.
I think before adjust the suspension / stering , you maybe need to reduce the weight , it's actually 300/400kg too heavy imo
