Whenever I actually see someone on the interstate doing the 10&2 position I just kinda laugh at them. It looks so goofy.
10&2 is the best position IMO, plus 9&3 is kind of impossible these days because(as 6677 said) of all the buttons and stuff they put at 9&3 on the steering wheel
I was always told 10&2 is the proper position for best grip anyway. I personally can't see it, but thats what the highway code always recommended too.
Two hands on the wheel certainly is ideal but is not entirely necessary all of the time. I'm never shocked to see that the majority of drivers that are riding my ass or following too closely often have just one hand on the wheel at 12 o'clock. Those one-handed egotistical macho morons are typically the more aggressive drivers too. There is no control of your vehicle with one hand at twelve. Some idiots even drive around with a limp wrist resting at 12. I believe the majority of this way of conduct is in due part to all the automatic transmissions that we see here in North America. The stupidity and ignorance I see from other drivers is staggering, it hurts my head to see such piss-poor and lazy behaviour. People really suck at driving here.
My dad often drives with his knee on six and that's it. He usually only does it when he is eating though.
