Game stops working when loading map or just after loading the map. causes visual artifacts akin to memory corruption and freezes the pc (forcing a shutdown), sometimes crashes the pc. (doesn't happen with any other vulkan, opengl programs)

happens when loading into map regardless of background applications or install location.

debian bullseye, KDE plasma, kernel 5.10, mesa 20.3.5
    ryzen 7 3700x, rx 5700 xt, 32gb 3200MT/s CL16 ram (QVL cert)

I get the same error, but only when I spawn a large number of vehicles. I suspect the game is doing something wrong with regards to GPU memory allocation. It does crash my entire graphical session when it does happen though. I can reliably play with less vehicles for any amount of time.

For me, the latest build when loading any map - I get booted back to my greeter (LightDM) :(

Here's some dmesg if that helps:

Game freezes on black screen when launched with gamescope, launches fine when launched without gamescope.

    Code:
    [bkeever@bkeever-arch BinLinux]$ gamescope -h 720 -H 1080 -U -f -- ./BeamNG.drive.x64 >> log.txt
No CAP_SYS_NICE, falling back to regular-priority compute and threads.

    -- UPDATE --
I am experiencing the same graphical errors as the last few posters. After loading Automation Test Track and going for a spin in the default pickup, I was able to crash twice in the same location, right after the banked turn (turn 6?) on the speedway passing the reservoir. No logs, but here is an image of radeontop, btm, and neofetch during the crash. I was booted to TTY (I don't have a login manager) after a minute or so.

Did someone find a way to run 0.28 for those of us that the update broke the game? or do the devs at least know what is causing this problem?

We are aware of the issue, I will look if we can get it fixed for the next hotfix

I'm running into an interesting issue not being able to launch the game.

Hardware is a Ryzen 5800X3D, 32GB of RAM, Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD, and an 8GB RX 580.
Software is Kubuntu 22.04 (kernel 6.3 compiled by myself + misc steps to get G923 support, built in GPU drivers).

    Code:
    <user>@<user>-desktop:~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/BeamNG.drive/BinLinux$ ./BeamNG.drive.x64
... (nothing to note other than BNG finding an FFB capable device (!) and the steam_appid.txt in the BinLinux folder)

    Aborted (core dumped)

Looking earlier in the thread I expect the failure to be related to these lines:
    Code:
      0.63957|D|TS| command line args:
      0.63958|D|TS| - 0 = ./BeamNG.drive.x64

Snooping online would lead me to believe this is an issue with multiple installations for LLVM or LLVM12 in general, but since I suspect BNG uses a newer version than 12 and I only have a single source path I don't see why that would be.

My G923 wheel doesn't work 100% in proton (no FFB), which is why I'm trying to get native working in the first place.

Edit: I'm running Clang 14.0.0/LLVM 14 just to clarify.

Are numbers problematic too? Cause they have numbers in their file names.

Also, I apologize for not having clarified earlier: the map mods that don't load in on the linux port work fine when running the proton version

Numbers should be fine as far I know.
Yes, this bug will only occur on native version, proton works completely separately.

I'm seeing extreme performance degradation on 0.28.1 compared to 0.27 (didn't test 0.28.0).

The game stutters heavily, with framerates going up and down rapidly. The average barely ever breaks 20, but min/max tend to be around 4 and 120, respectively.

    Issue occurs
    • on every level, including gridmap, irrespective of vehicle.
    • immediately on level load.
    • in safe mode.
    • using both the linux binary and Proton (tested experimental, 8.0 stable, and GE-7-55).
    Specifications:
    Code:
    ~
    ❯ inxi -SCGmz
    System:
      Kernel: 6.1.25-1-MANJARO arch: x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Xfce v: 4.18.1
        Distro: Manjaro Linux
    Memory:
RAM: total: 62.72 GiB used: 8.68 GiB (13.8%)
    CPU:
      Info: 8-core model: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
    Graphics:
      Device-1: NVIDIA GP104 [GeForce GTX 1080] driver: nvidia v: 530.41.03
      Display: x11 server: X.Org v: 21.1.8 with: Xwayland v: 23.1.1 driver: X:
        loaded: nvidia gpu: nvidia resolution: 1: 1080x1920~60Hz 2: 640x480~60Hz

API: OpenGL v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 530.41.03 renderer: NVIDIA GeForce GTX
        1080/PCIe/SSE2

A screenshot wouldn't really do much, as the game looks completely normal. I have attached a session log, but i see nothing weird there either (except for the crash reporter segfaulting, as usual)

Can't seem to find anything on the forums or steam discussions about it, which weirds me out a bit.

Thank you for the time and effort you've put into the Vulkan and Linux ports :)

I'm running an AMD RX 6600 XT with Mesa 23.0.3, seems to run perfectly at medium to high settings.

After the last hotfix, it seems render works properly again on the Linux version.
Make sure to remove the temp folder if you are running into issues :)

It does indeed! Nice. Still bugged when I try to switch to the ultra preset after starting a scenario, but that's not a big deal. Just select it right at startup, prior to loading something.

That said, I did just hit 88mph but I don't think it's supposed to do this. I was just driving along in Free Roam mode, facing the sun.
    screen1.png screen2.png

Repeatable so far: looks like it's starting in the reflection of the powerline wires.

I think that's normal at that speed
Jokes aside, what kind of hardware/drivers version you are running on

That truck is made for those speeds!

    EDIT:
@Car_Killer I think it's Mesa. I ran with a Mesa git pull just now and it didn't happen again.

Hi all, this isn't really a feedback/bug report, but more a question.
Is it possible to run BeamNG.drive on Deepin OS? I've been thinking of getting that linux distro but currently the one and only thing that's stopping my so far is about the ability to run the game on Deepin.
If anyone uses Deepin or know anything about this, I'd deeply appreciate it!

edit: I did try it on a VM but it gives me a bunch of errors all naming something called GLIBXX

    edit 2:

Here's the error codes that I'm getting when launching the executable on a vm
    Code:
    ./BeamNG.drive.x64: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.26' not found (required by ./BeamNG.drive.x64)
    ./BeamNG.drive.x64: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by ./BeamNG.drive.x64)
    ./BeamNG.drive.x64: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by /home/bepis/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/BeamNG.drive/BinLinux/libassimp.so.5)
    ./BeamNG.drive.x64: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.26' not found (required by /home/bepis/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/BeamNG.drive/BinLinux/libassimp.so.5)
    ./BeamNG.drive.x64: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by /home/bepis/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/BeamNG.drive/BinLinux/libdraco.so.1)

Once again, this is done through a VM, so it obviously emulates some hardware like gpu, if this is only for vm machines, please let me know
