*gets home* *rushes to computer* *downloads file* *starts updater* *"the updater is not able to update the software* ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
The physics optimization is noticeable. Vehicle spawning (Atleast here) is broken. Vehicles that are spawned either end up out of terrain boundary or are put into terrain objects without a way to manually place them safely. Atleast in the previous way through the editor you get a preview of where desired vehicle will be placed. Visuals are noticeably updated. Everything else feels the same so far. Nice to auto-recognize G27.
Faster Torrent Speeds Guys, The big problem here is that this updater system uses a torrent backend but doesn't give us any settings capabilities to ensure that the port used for communication is unblocked at your router level and allows direct peer to peer communication. For those of us familiar with torrents, I'm sure we all know the massive difference in speed when the port is configured correctly versus not. Like most of you, I was sitting here twiddling my thumbs watching these crazy slow download speeds until I popped into my router configuration and threw my PC ip address into its DMZ (which completely exposes the PC to the internet through the router). My download speeds have immediately jumped from around 50 kb/s up to 300+kb/s and it's been humming along for some time now. Of course, leaving your PC exposed like this is a pretty big no-no while surfing and what-not, but in the absence of having actual control over the updater's torrent settings this works to just get the file downloaded and then shut off... Figured I'd offer up this idea in case it helps anyone else too!
I can't set a DMZ host because my idiotic router locked me out PERMANENTLY for 3 failed password attempts. Their fault for making 4 dots appear when you type 1 character into the password field to prevent web browsers from saving the password. I don't want to reset it and lose all my settings. Couldn't they have just abused a bunch of Dropbox and Rapidshare accounts to host the download files? This torrent thing isn't working. 26 hours now. Sad because I've got 50mbps upload speed, unlike most people whose ISPs severely choke upload speed, so I'd be a good seeder.
The update is out! And I'm not waiting 48 hours for it to finish downloading... Tell me how the new map is everyone!
Well, they could have allowed us to give the installer the update files in a ZIP from whatever source we choose then let people host the files on random sites, but I was kidding. That wouldn't be responsible.
Seeding. Lets see how it goes : ) I think he meant upload the game there and let people download that way.
Is there actually a problem with the 64 bit version of Windows? The error is returned inconsistently (it only started saying it the last few times I believe) and happens pretty much wherever I try to start the download. With that being said, it does not stop the program.
because then you wouldnt need a serial to download the game and that would open it for filthy pirates
Re: Faster Torrent Speeds Not too fond of using the DMZ but I might try it to see if I get the same results, thanks for the advice.
what error? the only error I have on 64 bit windows 8 is this one: which according to update.log is this: It did originally work - kinda, then it crashed out and I havent had it working since.
Re: Faster Torrent Speeds I know, DMZ is a no-no but short of traffic sniffing to see what port the updater's using and opening it in the router, I figured this is waaaaay easier to explain. I'm getting a completely stable 300kb/s and I went from about 76% complete to 97% complete in the last 10 mins or so.
People need to seed. I swear if your update finishes and you close out before it seeds I will hire a gang to rape you.
Don't close the updater when it's done! Just play the game and seed for those trying to download. Pretty sure you'd still need a serial to run the game. Either way it's not going to stop anything.
