    Hey!
I'm trying to make a new Vehicle Skin, as you (hopefully) already realised, because of the title,
and im on the BeamNG Tutorial page, at "https://wiki.beamng.com/Simple_skin_tutorial"
But i can't open the ".dds" file.
I'm attempting to use paint.net, as suggested in the tutorial, but it says something like this:
    Paint cannot read this file.
This is not a valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently supported.
This didn't really help me, that much.
Any ideas? Please and thank you!

What '.dds' file are you trying to open?

I think he means that the .dds file won't open when he tries to open it in Paint.NET. I have the same issue.

    There is a fix:

First: Take the UV image from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BeamNG.drive\content\vehicles from the vehicle of your choosing.
    Second: Right click on it.
    Third: Hit 'open with'
Fourth: Hit 'paint.NET in the 'open with' tab.
Fifth: Edit your skin, make sure you set transparency to 0 on the UV map layer when you are done.
Sixth: Go to save as, and name the file the same as the other files.
Seventh: After naming, put .dds after the name you chose.
Eighth: After that, save the file in SkinName/vehicles/vehicleofchoosing/SkinName/
    I hope this helped.

Also, by the way, you were right with your assumption, (I think that's how you spell it,) "I think he means that the .dds file won't open when he tries to open it in Paint.NET. I have the same issue." That was my problem, and I tried your technique, and it worked!

I'm glad it worked! I had the same issue when I started making skins!
