massive FPS drops when drifting, just started after getting a new hand brake

I have been playing beam ng with my logitech g29 using the VR mode in vulcan for ages now. I have an 11th gen intel i7-11700k, a 2080ti, and 32GB of ram so it shouldn't be a performance issue, as it has not had this problem before unless I'm loading in a whole forest at full speed, but I get that. I just got a hand brake, the HBP handbrake by moza racing. I hooked it up and all is well but now I get really bad FPS while drifting, and then it goes back to normal once I'm not sliding. I get all the physics and stuff while sliding is a lot more demanding but I have never had his problem before, and just now noticed it right after setting up the hand brake.
