The model is looking really nice, but as far as i can tell you have way to many polygons. The model is too detailed. You may find this very useful: http://www.beamng.com/entries/40-A-look-at-vehicle-workflow-Part-1
After some Months with barely any progress I continued working on this. On aljowen's advice I remodeled the whole body of the car and reduced the ammount of polygons. Also the framework and the tank is done. Next will be the Engine.
That's looking really nice, looking forward to seeing the final model. of topic: Just by looking at screenshots i noticed you have both firefox and opera open, was just wondering if you were transitioning to firefox due to the Chropera thing? I did that on the weekend, took a while (all sunday) to get firefox to the point where i could use it nearly as well as i can use opera 12.
The fact that I'm using both Opera and Firefox ist, that there are more Add-ons for Firefox like NoScript and ProxMate. But I think Opera is the better Browser so I kept it. Never heared of Chropera.
I have seen the new version of Opera referred to as Chropera because it is just a re-badged version of chrome. I much preferred the power that the presto engine had, im sure they will eventually get their modified chrome up to the same standard but its no where near yet imo.
After another 8 hours of work trunk and the doors are done, the bodywork is now 3d and I have started with the wheels. I can't stop working on the car right now! But I have a question about the materials. Do all parts of the car which have different materials have to be individual objects?
That is looking very nice. and no, they dont. You just highlight the sides that you want to be a certain material and then click the material you want them to be, then click assign (or something to the same effect). If you use blender this should help you. You can see on the right window that i have selected certain body panels. Then on the right side of the left screen you can see i have a material selected and my mouse (which you cannot see) is over the assign button which has highlighted it.
Thank you very much! That is exactly what I was looking for! - - - Updated - - - Just spent another day working on the car.
Thanks! This looks pretty interesting, but I don't want to put so much effort in the renders. The purpose of the model is still being a mod for BeamNG.
next you should start making a lexus it would actully be a really nice car with the wood and leather and all that good stuff
Lexus?! In my oppinion these are the ugliest cars on our streets these days! Even worse than the Fiat Multipla or the Toyota Prius! On the other side I would really like to see them smashed into pieces .
The interior is pretty much done except for the dashboard and some other details. I didn't spend so much time on the renders but I think they are good enough to show you what I have done. There are also no textures by now.
Love this car; I have a scale model. Gotta love the transmission tunnel that the driver has to straddle Gas and brake on one side, clutch waaay over on the other side. Discomfort all around.
