i agree. The Lincoln RidgeWood or somethung like that was a F A I L U R E . Looked terrivle, and focised on luxury more than heavy duty, ect
Just a Ford F-150 With some useless pieces of red plastic on the tail gate,I think they were supposed to look like tail lights but they don't even work. --- Post updated --- And a bit of re-badging. --- Post updated --- Here. Literally an F-150.
May I remind you guys of another luxury truck failure? A Cadillac Escalade EXT, a Chevy Avalanche with a lot of chrome and a slightly softer ride. It did last two generations, though.
What you posted is the Mark LT, what replaced the Blackwood after that. This is the Blackwood, and yeah, it wasn't that popular even though it had a ton of enthusiasm at the NAIA Show in 99. Also it was only offered with a black interior and exterior and RWD only, in contrast to the first EXT which offered alot more options, colors and did offer 4WD. The Mark LT came later in 05 solved all those issues, and even outsold the Cadillac once in 2006, although eventually Ford decided to replace it with the F-150 Platinum trim, while Mexico did still get a "second generation" up to 2014. But yeah, eventually Ford decided to end that as well.
Lincoln: Failed Cadillac: Failed Mazda: Cheap Honda: Fail Mercedes Benz: (lemme guess) FAILURE Luxury car companies need to leave working trucks to American companies like Ford and Chevy and ram, because those work, I'd rather be caught dead in a Ford Ranger than that, Becasue a ford ranger is a respectable truck, seriously, there is a reason why Ford is making them again, most common truck here is 1990 Ford ranger
If you're referring to the Mazda B series, it's literally a rebadged Ford Ranger. Also for the Honda Ridgeline I can't stress this further enough since people here aren't seeing the idea. The Ridgeline itself isn't SUPPOSED to be used as what an F-150 or Silverado or RAM is capable of, but it's for the people who DON'T need a pickup truck 85% of the time, but for the 15% off chance that they need it, it's there. The Cadillac Escalade EXT and the Lincoln Blackwood and Mark LT were just more or less "trends" or, I guess "pioneers" to the luxury trims you get on these trucks nowadays, standalone models didn't work, but eventually luxury trims work, and manufacturers now learned that it's cheaper that way.
But that doesn't solve the issue at all, it's still a literal pickup truck, not everyone wants a full sized truck like the F-150, Silverado, or the RAM. I know there's the midsized Chevrolet/GMC Colorado/Canyon, and the Toyota Tacoma, and the upcoming Ranger. Basically, here's the thing, People who are more conscious about fuel economy, or wants something that's easier to maintain or keep, the Ridgeline gets about roughly 20-21 mpg in the city, and 25 mpg on the highway, while say, the Tacoma gets about 18 in the city, and roughly 20-23mpg, it doesn't make much of a different, but it is to people who want to save money, But, still would need a truck of some kind on the off chance. I'm not defending Honda, but it's not the first time where I've ran into people who complain that the Ridgeline can't tow a big heavy trailer or such, and if they need to, then they go for the bigger trucks. Simple as that. Not everyone has the same mindsets, or same ideas, as the next guy does.
Evidently anyone who buys the more expensive trims of the F150 and Silverado (like the King Ranch and the High Country). Ford and Chevy go to the effort of making them, so clearly there are enough buyers to justify the effort. Perhaps you weren't aware, but Chevrolet (or rather GM) owns Cadillac and Ford owns Lincoln. These American companies are not magically immune to creating a luxury pickup that doesn't sell well (as you've seen in this thread). Maybe Mercedes will follow in their footsteps, or maybe they'll build a capable truck that's also classy and luxurious. It's not really smart to proclaim so confidently that Mercedes will fail in international markets based on experiences in the American market.
You know that the x-class is just an overpriced nissan navara/renault alaskan? Mercedes seems to do this kind of a thing a lot. They take a successful renaul or nissan model, take the engine and the body of it and break it with their electronics and stupid prices.
No no no, they will fail, and I know who owns who, it's just rebranding a truck as a luxury is just dumb, trucks aren't luxury, they are meant to work --- Post updated --- Yes, the Mazda B Series..... Alomg with a Mazda rebranding Escape, is one of the saddest trucks I've ever seen
