Kind of like Burnout Paradise marked man? Sounds great anyway. How about this for a mini-game, how about a Burnout style road rage in multiplayer. For those who have never played Burnout, allow me to explain. Ok so there are 5-infinite amount of people. In multiplayer, you pick your car without the acknowledgement of what the other players have chosen. Then in a timed event, let's say, 5 minutes, you try to crash as many people as possible. The person with the most takedowns wins.
My minigame idea: Damaging Survivors The game begins like a race but it has many more obstacles in the way as well as things to crash into, the players drive around and attempt to damage their car as much as possible but still have it working enough to limp to the finish. Whoever has the most damage AND makes it to the finish line wins! (Also a time limit so the game wont last forever)
I actually had this exact idea a little while ago (albeit a solo A to B time trial rather than multi-car race)
Not so much a mini-game as much as something cool. The aerodynamics of the cars is awesome enough that at high enough speeds with a large enough jump you almost get the feeling of gliding and you can influence your car by steering (at that speed even the relatively small change of the wheels can steer you). So basically strap a rocket booster to a super car with suspension as good as a Baja truck and have fold out wings for gliding so you can hit massive jumps and glide over the island
Would there also be a way to control the pitch of the car in mid air with the throttle and the brakes? I've heard that in real life, rally/baja/stunt drivers use the throttle and brake in mid air to level the car out on jumps, and when I was still into building/racing RC cars this was very noticable too, we could basically summersault it by just throttle and brakes in mid air. If you tap the brake in mid air, it will bring the nose down, hitting the gas will bring it back up. Throttle and braking while still on the ramp will also make it pitch up and down: If you get off the throttle before the end of the ramp it'll nosedive more easily. I think if you guys do end up implementing minigames like that, or ones where you just have to jump and land in a certain way, it would be nice to see something like that implemented. If it's possible and not too much work, at least.
BEST. IDEA. EVER! Seriously something you should implement into the game, whether it be a game mode or an option in free mode for this would be AMAZING!
There is a bunch of people doing something like this in the Gta IV Multiplayer and they are calling it 'BUSTED'. Basically there is one Crook and a lot of Cops trying to stop him from fleeing all around the map. It is a lot of fun and if we could do this here with proper physics that would be awesome! I will link you an example here:
Someone suggested crash test dummy as main character in the other thread and I like this idea. I thought about minigame - player crashes the car somewhere so the driver falling out through front window and the distance between dummy and the car after the crash is the score he achieved. Player can make use of structures around the map to gain advantage, and there are no rules - just crash and get your score.
As minigames go, I like to think of things that would destroy the car over time with light damage that would accumulate. Kind of a game of attrition. Sounds dull but the more dynamic damage system in BeamNG could make it interesting. One that's occurred to me is you pick a prop, like oil barrels or street signs or barriers... or have a randomly generated mix. This could either happen on a flat, infinite expanse or on a course. There's an infinite stream of these objects to hit, you have a minimum speed to maintain and you keep going for as long as you can. When you slow down too much, lose control or disable your car then your run is up. You are scored on average speed, how far you went and the percentage of objects you hit. but it could be laps around a rough course, a last man standing type race, or a variation on Driver1's pursuit mini-game that just goes on until someone wrecks. I like to see the endurance of things and some small games devoted to daft things like this would be pretty cool.
I think it would be great if users could perhaps script their own minigames (perhaps with Lua?). Maybe they could be put on a repository as addons, like a vehicle or terrain. Hell, what if users could utilize Torque3D's full game-making functionality in making BeamNG minigames? You could probably do some really elaborate stuff if you have the know-how.
Although it has been in many other games, I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned here before. (that I know of) Thanks for bringing it up because this is definitely a game mode that should be implemented!
I have a idea, it is wher you jump and try to get as high as you can and then inflict as much damage to your car when you land. I call it DamaJump.
What about a soccer mode where cars move a ball around but once your car crashes you are out? But it needs to be crashed so much that it cannot move anymore.
