lamborghini miura matchbox from 1970 My addiction is too much, I got 17 just today, including a rather interesting one.
This isn't new, but it's been with me for a good amount of years now. These were exclusive only if you bought the actual truck at dealerships, and they ran a limited numbers of these, didn't know the brand for the longest time, but it seems to be some obscure brand, but only have found others in different colors. Why I haven't shown this was because a few years ago, one of the wheels had snapped off.. Was bummed, thought of buying another one for replacement and use this as parts, but for one to pop up is almost rarer than some of my recent cars, and prices go for alot, but as the pics above this show, finally got the wheel back on after some hackjobness and it lives again.
Thanks, about a year in the making, mostly finding cars that I used to own way back then, though I'm still short of what I used to have. There's also quite a few in there that I've never owned/some maybe I've paid too much for, but eh, worth it.
Aight, some pic spam and short story relating to one particular car, or SUV in that matter. (pics are in subsequent order) Long story short, that silver Cadillac Escalade has been through, "alot" ever since I bought it. It arrived with a broken wheel, managed to find the missing spokes and did what was basically a "temporary" fix, little did I know, the damage was far more severe, and fairly recently, the whole wheel just gave out. Went out on a hunt to find a total replacement, because these are hard to come by, and finding a replacement wheel is impossible, not to mention this particular brand had gone out of business for a decade now. Found a "perfect" one in the same color going for a reasonable price, jumped at it, waited a few days, opened the box to find it destroyed simply. Messaged the seller, he's filed a claim with the shipping company, considering that this had happened during the time it left his possession. While I'm waiting on that claim to process, I decided to unbox/take a closer look at the damages, I noticed how the pieces of the body were broken off, at first I had thought that someone had opened up the box, and maliciously broke it, considering how the doors were broken, however someone else had mentioned that it looked alot like "Zamac Rot", or zinc rot, which basically what happens when the metal is cast improperly, and it leads to corrosion/crumbling bodies. Evidently this is a big issue with diecast models, and then further research from other forums, that these Escalades, specifically the SUV ones were known to have this issue, and so that led to me realize that this wasn't someone's doing, rather the truck just literally crumbled/broke apart during shipping, so in essence, this was more broken than the first one I bought. Take note of the paint rash on the body, evidently that was a sure sign of zinc rot, so basically this one was beyond saving, but considering that, it's now the donor for my old one. Also yes, the rear part of the body is literally separated from the front, so as soon as I started taking it apart to salvage what I could use/what the old one needed, it just started further crumbling apart. And so, the old one is back to it's former glory, replaced the door mirrors for the original ones off of the "new" one, along with replacing the rear axle, although I'm keeping a close eye on it to see if it'll hold up, which I think it will.
