I think most people think all ovals are superspeedways where you can go flatout. But that isn't the case at all, since there are only 2 ovals (Talladega and Daytona) where you can go flatout. I admit, those are quite easy but not in traffic. But some ovals were really slippery and bumpy like Dover and Kansas. Nice ovals, especially Dover. I have had great battles on there! 0.013 sec difference, 2-wide coming out of turn 4 :D Great stuff. Most of the times, oval racing is closer than road racing.

Hey, it's the same with me! I also like seeing my favorite drivers (see below) race.1.Marcos Ambrose #09 (he was in Australian V8 Supercar racing, but he quit after an incident with Greg Murphy and I am Aussie.)2.Dale Earnhardt Jr. #883. Denny Hamlin #11

Really? You try driving 200mph 2 inches away from 42 other cars also going 200mph. I have. It ain't easy.

Thats literally exactly like not moving and being 2 in from another car, if theyre not moving very fast relative to you, then its not tough to do.

That speed would create a wind vortex and each car would be pulled towards each other, you would have to really fight the steering wheel, most would fail.. It's hard to do. Not the same as sitting stationary.

I know iRacing popped up already. But that is a game that gave me respect for NASCAR. Did it make me a NASCAR fan? No. Do I still think its boring to watch? Yes. But I won't question if it takes skill ever again.

Oval vs Road courses takes completely different kinds of skill and to say that Formula 1 > NASCAR in terms of skill is ignorant. Formula 1 is more demanding in some areas, NASCAR in others.

You really have no idea what you're talking about. What you greatly fail to realize is that in a sport like NASCAR the Δv at 200MPH can be ridiculous. What if a car 20feet ahead of you suddenly wrecks and there Δv is now -50MPH/s. The relative speed difference is very much a factor.

Exactly. You don't have to be a NASCAR fan, but questioning the drivers' skill is ignorant on another level.

Im aware that relative speed is a major factor. In his poorly set up illustration, everyone is always going exactly 200 mph.

But to say F1 is even close to nascar is pretty foolish. To start with, the speeds in F1 are greater, as well as the difference in relative speeds. You have to worry much more about racing lines in F1, as well as the other cars around you.

Id like to hear what is tougher in nascar than in F1.

Also im not questioning anyones skill. Theyre good at what they do.

Yes! For all of those haters posting here, please leave, so we NASCAR fans can talk about racing without having to explain how awesome it is.

Well there's not really much you can do when you're going 200 and there's a wreck in front of you, especially when you're blinded by smoke and stuff. I'm sure they've got pretty quick reaction times, though. Maybe not like rally drivers, but pretty damn good.
