Nascar Racing 2003 Season issue

This is what I get trying to relive one of my favorite games. I've never run across this error before. How can I fix it?

 

old game, may simply be bust on windows 7

 

Have you tried the typical compatibility stuff like setting it to run in Windows 98/2000/XP mode and running as an administrator?

 

Just did, to no avail. I don't understand it, it used to run. Could it maybe be that Visual Studio is to new? I ran on VS 2008 and I have 2013 installed.

 

Then try downloading Visual C++ 2008.

 

Its complaining about the VC++ runtime not visual studio. The game will have installed the correct version of the VC++ runtime DLL already, just looks like that version doesn't work on modern windows.

 

Or maybe it's programmed like shit and instead of installing the proper VC++ runtime it just attempts to run on whatever it finds...

 

Yea, that's what I meant. I was half asleep when I made that post. I'll see what VC++ 2008 will do when my computer stops blue screening every 5 seconds. Will update.
