eh, rock, from CCR (Credence Clearwater Revival)
Maybe Fortunate Son specifically, it makes everything cooler

Here's the missing middle bit of the vid :)

and toss 'see ya later Smokey' somewhere in the description... I won't give a reason, as it's quite sad. Thanks for this, by the way!

Thank you for the middle clip.

I'll do you one better: I'll put "See ya' later, Smokey..." on the screen (and the description). If it's sad, I'll leave it alone.

It's no problem at all! Cool vids should be shared, kind of like displaying fine art in a gallery. :)

Unfortunately, I don't think I can use CCR or Fortunate Son due to copyright. However, I can find something copyright free (and high-quality) that matches their style as best as I can.

    This vid gonna be cool!

Your flight, the first of an ME262 to launch and land on a barge carrier, has been forever memorialized in this video:

SWEET, thanks mate, I'll make sure to share it! ;)

It's perfect, with the sendoff to Smokey at the end, genuinely, THANK YOU.

I'm glad that you like it! :D

If you try the bungee cord launch idea, I'd like to see that. Even if the method doesn't work well, it might still be entertaining. :)

Nobody made a thing like that in beamng and making thing would require making a whole air carrier

I've already made the carrier, I can do it again

    Yeah...

@Mikah 01 , I've rebuilt the same carriers over and over. Maybe I'm missing something, but strapping a bungee cord to a carrier should be a simple matter of:
    1. Build another carrier.
    2. Node-grab some kind of stretchy rope to the carrier's bow.
    3. Node-grab the other end of the rope to the plane.
There is the small problem of not releasing the plane until the pilot is ready, because as soon as the stretchy rope is attached to the plane, it's going to try to yank the plane off the deck. Here's how you fix that (requires modifying the plane):
    1. Edit the JBEAM file for the plane that contains the fuselage nodes.
    2. Find a node at the very back of the fuselage. It'll look something like this:
      ["nodeName", X, Y, Z],
...where X, Y and Z are the coordinates.
    3. Add the following between the Z-value and the ']'
      , {"tag":"crane_hook","couplerStrength":801000}
    4. Place a MAN TGS Euro 6 crane truck on-deck (search the forums for MAN-TGS_hotfix.zip).
    5. Park the truck right behind the plane to launch.
    6. Move the crane arm in order to place the hook right behind the back end of the plane fuselage.
    7. Press Shift-L to attach the hook to the fuselage to hold the plane in place until ready to launch.
    8. Connect the bungee cord to the bow of the carrier.
    9. Connect the other end of the bungee cord to the plane.
    10. Spool up the jet engines.
    11. When ready to launch:
      1. Switch to the crane.
      2. Use Alt-L to release the hook and loose the plane.
      3. Immediately pause the game.
      4. Switch back to the plane.
      5. Unpause and do some pilot stuff.
In my brain, this should theoretically work...

What about setting the engines? It usually takes a bit for them to get to full power. If they aren't at least at 75% I reckon you'll still stall.
I'll still try this out though :)

    Bah too hard to understand

Lukely i have a other Idea

    1. Pick a fast car

    2. Apply a heavy flywheel and a tow hitch

    3. Spawn a chain

    4. Hook the chain to the car by pressing L and Hook it to the plane's nose with the node grabber

    5. Center the car right

    6. pause the game and Switch to the plane and accelerate at the same Time

    7. Gas up with the plane really fast

ME262 takes ages to gas up, while doing the carrier landing I stalled at least once every time I flew past the mountain. Gassing it up isn't dependent on the pilot, it depends on how the plane wants to behave.

BUT, I reckon I have a great, easy idea.
Rollover sled, attach a rope, gas up the plane, and when ready, send off the sled. Then switch back to the plane and boom, you're off, bob's your uncle, fly away. At least, that's how I imagine it, I'll have to see if my plan actually applies to reality.

Great ideas all around though :)

Well , this where the fast car does the job

It should give some more acceleration , right ?

It's easier to Do this in beammp as you'll have another player controlling the car .

I like your Idea but the rollover is too ..... Brutal

I mean, have you seen how brutal the carrier launches are? I surprised the pilots don't get whiplash.
I do see what you mean though, so I'll see

This weekend I'm going to attempt some launches and landings using the methods we've discussed here. Some will work, others won't, but they'll all be spectacular; either amazing success or abysmal (possibly comedic) failure. I'll probably record my attempts and post the ones that are true spectacles.

Note: Some methods might not work for me because I'm not that good of a pilot, but they might work for other people who are very good pilots.

@SmokeyDokey , your ME262 carrier landing video has 131 views so far. That's pretty good for my channel (I only have 185 subscribers).

Dang, that's pretty good. I'll try some of these methods out myself this weekend. If I come up with anything exceptional, I'll upload it here (and maybe I'll record some bloopers for you vid this time) :)

Yes, please. Sometimes, bloopers are desirable. People often like to view funny stuff multiple times, kinda like "Dude, that's funny! Play it again! Ha ha!" :D

This weekend I'm going to attempt to build an STOL conversion mod for the ME262 and see how well that works. If it works well, I'll post the mod for others to test & hopefully enjoy. The STOL conversion for the Hyper Bolide works pretty well, so I have high hopes for an STOL conversion for the ME262.

I'm going to try other takeoff and landing methods too, because why limit myself? (...and my failures might be funny) :D

If the ME262 STOL conversion works well, I'll probably hold off posting it for a day or two in order to give myself enough time to build a "BeamNG firsts" video. Gotta claim those bragging rights & bonus points!
