    ooh, what will you do to make it take off so quickly and land in small spaces? That would be insanely useful. Maybe I could be the first to shoot down an ME262 with a minigun in beam (my friend flies the 262 and I shoot him down with the minigun)

    All of the STOL mods that I'm planning for the ME262 would be invisible because I haven't trained myself on how to build visible meshes, yet, but the mods would be:
    1. A downward-pointing thruster that can be turned on and off. This thruster would be almost powerful enough to lift the ME 262 off the ground, but not quite. Some wing lift would still be required to remain airborne. This thruster would be directly under the ME262's center-of-gravity and have an effect similar to GIANT wing flaps. The lift thruster would be engaged on takeoff and landing.
    2. A forward-pointing thruster that can be turned on and off. This thruster would be used to dump speed in-flight, like a GIANT airbrake. It could be used immediately after touch-down to simulate the effect of an arresting cable. I'll make it adjustable so that it can also be used as a dive brake on a dive bomber (like the ME262).
    Pilot Tips:
    1. Don't let your airspeed drop too much. Although the STOL conversion will reduce the stall speed, the wings can still stall. Also, air must always be moving over the flight control surfaces to maintain positive control.
    2. Don't pitch or roll too much when in STOL mode. The artificial lift provided by the vertical thruster is dependent on the bottom of the fuselage facing downward. For example, if you roll 45 degrees to the side, the vertical thruster is now also at 45 degrees. STOL mode is less stable than other flight modes. Rolling or pitching too much can result in an unrecoverable loss of control.
    This is going to be a very useful mod, I think!

    I need this, this is amazing. I'd be able to do cool stunts that you normally can't do in a 262.

    Since I'm not the original creator of the Hyper Bolide, reposting it is problematic without the permission of the original creator. However, Darren9, the original creator, is no longer part of the BeamNG community, so I don't know how to contact.

    I've seen other reposts of the Hyper Bolide and other mods where permission of the creator could not be obtained for one reason or another. There are ways to do it and not get into trouble. I'll check that out tonight and see if I can get The Hyper Bolide STOL posted. It's a cool mod, and it would be a shame not to share it. I just have to do it the right way.

    Spawn yourself in east coast instead of italy as it's less heavier to run for your pc

    Cliff map is better for water than EC, and it's lighter on your pc.

    Somebody should modify a copy of the Cliff map and:
    1. Add an airstrip.
    2. Hollow out the middle, like an archvillain's lair!
    Perhaps the airstrip can be mostly underground, so that the planes seem to appear from nowhere! Also, open a cave in the base of the mountain at sea level so that boats can sail into an underground harbor. That would be a sweet map!

    YES. we also need a massive flight map a few times the size of american roads with simple buildings (so you actually get fps)

    Dirty Pilot Trick: The "Maverick"

    If you have an adversary on your 6:
    1. Throttle down & engage the airbrake. Your adversary should fly past you (or impact you).
    2. If your adversary didn't impact you, disengage the airbrake and throttle up. You should now be on your adversary's 6.
    3. Neutralize your adversary.

    Sandy Mountain is a large, open map, with GIANT mountains. I used the Flood mod on this level and it resulted in HUGE lakes ("seas" might be more accurate). I'm not sure if it has any areas that are appropriate for an airstrip. I didn't really look at the time because I had already flooded the map and I was using a carrier. It's a large map, but it doesn't seem to have many complex objects besides the terrain, so it didn't seem to hit the FPS too bad.

    BTW: If I remember correctly, I had to add an ocean to the level to get the Flood mod to work. The Flood mod allows you to control the height of an ocean, but only if an ocean is already there. It won't add one.

    Yeah, the idea was from the first Top Gun. If it worked for Pete Mitchel, it should work for us.

    I looked around, and it looks like people were posting Google Drive links to a copy of the Hyper Bolide ZIP file. It seems that's permissible. Nobody got yelled at after posting a Google Drive link.

    Well, if I'm going to post it, I'll need to clean up my code modifications and tie a bow on it first. I'll probably be able to post a link to a cleaned-up Hyper Bolide STOL by tomorrow. Note: The lift thruster is provided by the Stunt Mortar, so you'll need to download that too. It's not going to do its STOL thing without it. I'll also include a ready-made configuration named "STOL" in the ZIP file.

    The airstrip is a spawn point, and I didn't notice. I guess my cranium was firmly lodged in my posterior. :D

    Let's check the flooding...

    It didn't flood much before it reached the end of the airstrip at 519 m.

    I wonder if there's a flat, straight road at high altitude that might make a good airstrip...

    I flooded to 891 m, and this island with a nice, straight road emerged:

    Remove the guardrail, and there's your island base with airstrip.

    1. Download the Hyper Bolide STOL ZIP file into your BeamNG "mods" folder. Google will give you some noise about "can't scan the file" and "virus". It's just noise. There's no virus.
    2. Download the Stunt Mortar from within BeamNG.
    3. Spawn the Hyper Bolide STOL.
    4. Enjoy STOL operations.
    5. Spawn some barges, modified according to Naval Warfare post #72.
    6. Assemble the barges into an aircraft carrier.
    7. Enjoy STOL operations some more.
    This variant of the Hyper Bolide has thrust reversers (necessary for STOL). It also has a particle emitter that can be toggled on and off. The emitter is good to emit smoke for an air show, or maybe fire like you're in the process of getting shot down.

    The Hyper Bolide STOL is very fun, but it doesn't have missiles.

    However, the ME262 does. I'll probably have some kind of STOL conversion for the ME262 working this weekend.

    The Mk 0 ME262 STOL just took its maiden flight. It wasn't pretty, the STOL mod requires some tuning, and it's even harder to pilot now, but I got the ME262 off the ground at about 65 mph, and landed it at about the same speed. We'll be launching and recovering from shorter carriers in no time.

    Time to sleep now. I'll fine tune the mod tomorrow, then I'll attempt some carrier ops.

    Selected test pilots are running the ME262 STOL Conversion Kit through its paces at a classified location at this very moment...
