I'm sure anyone who can actually drive will obliterate my time with that car, because it was my first try and all the next attempts ended up like this:

    Soliad Lansdale Race - 08:08.276
A pretty decent run overall, excluding one point where a key stuck and I came within inches of the barrier. It took many attempts though, including twice where I hit the barrier after the final straight (although I got 8:20 limping one over the finish). Unfortunately I pressed R and not Alt+R to end the replay so I don't have a win screen to show :(

I considered racing the Tuner Special instead but it's impossible to track, the skinny tires + stiff suspension causes it to bounce all over the track and you have to be perfect (even more then what a keyboard allows) to get anywhere near the limit.

'50s cars are clearly not meant for the track, on my first run it started overheating after only 6km and driving lighter didn't save it from locking up (at 15km). It honestly sucked as I had to use a variety of tricks to keep the temperature down (coasting in neutral, shorter shifts, and lighter cornering) but a successful lap is a feat in itself
I made a config with a drag radiator and got a time of 11:29, although I was having too much fun thrashing it in corners to try for a big improvement :D. Maybe I'll add some radial tires and come back to it later.

Maaaan, I expected this time to be bad but not that bad. The Lansdale puts it's older, floatier, brake-fading relative to shame, although (to be fair) it was a first and only run so I could certainly get a better time if I tried.

Using the GT3 config from this link ----> https://www.beamng.com/resources/scintilla-gt3-racing-parts.23027/

Got a time of 7:01.702. Definitely could shave off a couple seconds and get a sub 7 minute lap. ignore the music lol i didn't realize it was also recorded :)

lansdale race config, 8.18 on my first attempt. all was done with a g29 wheel

Decided to run a bunch of Lansdales around the ring:

    Soliad Lansdale 2.5(A)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 10:53.584

    Soliad Lansdale 2.5 Sport S(M)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 10:35.388

    Soliad Lansdale TD 2.5 - EUDM(M)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 10:24.871

    Soliad Lansdale 3.3 S(A)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 10:38.054

    Soliad Lansdale 3.3 Sport S(A)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 9:46.654

Soliad Lansdale 3.8 Sport SE AWD(A)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 9:44.603

    Soliad Lansdale Super Tuner(M)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 9:24.672

I was hoping that at least some of these configurations would be bad enough to be funny, but no. I just felt frustrated by lapping the Lansdale, despite normally liking sh¤%boxes. The 2.5 Sport S(M) felt the best to drive for me.

I also decided to annoy myself by driving a race car.

Carbonworks F4 Low Downforce - Campus Racing
Mod - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 7:18.590

The Carboworks F4 mod is absolutely fine, but I just cant drive racecars :D I just feel like it has endless grip until I actually turn into a corner and then either spin or understeer into a wall :D

I admire the dedication, I could never race the Super Tuner or Tuner Special without at least changing the tuning (heh). Now that I think about it, it might be more trackable with the wheels un-stanced.

Burnside Special V8 w/27x10 race tires and drag radiator: 10.24.042
Still a lot of fun in the corners while it's glued to the road (save for a time I got too confident in the tires) and it's way better when you don't have to watch your gauges, although it's a bit of a drag on the straights. Also featuring the best carousel cornering I've ever done, and s l o w c a r f a s t

    20230718191712_1.jpg
Gavril Grand Marshal Track - 7:59.040
Pretty easy to drive just grabbing it from the configs; it's a lot of fun as long as you keep the suspension stable in-between movements. Although I had an insane amount of bad luck, unexpected oversteer and dozens of failed attempts, including braking too late at the final straight and spinning around (8:04) and snapping a tie rod on the Sabine-Schmitz Curve and slightly overshooting the finish (8:10).
Also, how was I the first to race a Grand Marshal?

The Super Tuner was easier to drive than the F4, since technically I just had to remember that it had no grip due to excessive camber. It took me about 40 minutes to get the Super Tuner lapped, but over 2 hours to lap the F4.

Soliad Lansdale 4400 V8 Tuner Special Supercharged (Tuned Config) - 7:55.278
Turns out the car is much more trackable with some tuning ;) changes, as the factory setup has some strange decisions (who runs positive camber in the front and negative in the back?). My changes:
    • Swapped front and rear camber
    • -3% steering trim
    • Rear suspension setup from the Race Lansdale
    • ECU to 6800rpm (adding nice, flat power curve and +57hp for some odd reason)
    • 65/35 split center differential
    • Removed negative spring height and hub spacing (for stability)
Once I got accustomed to 700hp (and braking on every corner) it seemed easier to race then the Grand Marshal, and was probably my best recorded run. Although yet again, I got too excited on the 1st finish, understeered past the finish line and stalled facing the wrong way :D(#4 on the leaderboard).

    ETK K-series Trackday - 7:27.414
Quite nimble and the fastest car I've raced yet, although the turbo (and nothing else) started overheating only 3.5 minutes in.
    20230729163813_1.jpg

ETK 846 Custom Config (essentially a stripped AWD Knallhart) - 07:29.967
I put 300 miles on the car trying to beat the Trackday and never succeeded, this was my best run and it has multiple errors (including having to reverse when I spun around after the carousel). It's rather deceiving at it's less predictable then it feels; I would try something I did in a previous run and it would have less grip or behave as if the suspension was damaged when it wasn't. It can go 220mph on the final straight though :)

I tried again with the 846 and got a run I liked better: 7:23.167

    20230806155504_1.jpg

I also attached the config (either put it in your mods folder or unzip in your userdata) if anybody wants to try it, I'm sure someone with a wheel and pedals could do much better.

I have been meaning to lap the maluch since it had the 1.5 update, so I finally ran a few of them.

I decided on 4 configurations: Early model, Late model, Italian sport model and a Polish sport model.

    Fiat 126 595
Mod - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 14:32.414

    Polski Fiat 126p Happy End
Mod - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 14:31.815

    Giannini 126 GPA 800 Widebody
Mod - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 12:40.500

    Polski Fiat 126p Sport
Mod - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 13:06.466

To my surprise they all were engaging enough to drive on the Nürburgring.Even more surprising was that the Happy End model was practically no faster than the Italian 595.
The hardest to drive was the Italian 595 and my personal favourite was the Polish Sport version.

Then I wanted to see how well the 126 can pull a caravan:

    Fiat 126 595 Scioneri towing a Niewiadów N126 Standard
    Car - Mod - Custom config(added a tow hitch) - Default tune
Trailer - Mod - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 18:44.095

I must say I'm impressed. I expected it to be extremely slow, hard to control and the car to overheat, but none of it happened :D

However, I did plan to run the late versions of both aswell but since it all went so well/boringly I decided to run the modern camper behind a more potent Polish workhorse instead:

FPS Trapez Kombo Grus towing a modern Niewiadów N126e
    Car - Mod - Custom config(added a tow hitch) - Default tune
Trailer - Mod - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 12:47.952

This was far more exiting:D Trailer drifts, near flips and almost cooking the engine at the end :D And the lap time was a lot better than I thought it would be aswell.

I currently seem to lack the permission to upload the finish screenshots, so I will try and remember to do that once the forums get fully fixed up :D Edit: figured out how to add attachments :D

Might as well join in on the trailer fun:

    Gavril T65 5th Wheel Upfit (Short) w/T600 turbo & 12900kg TastiCola dry van trailer - 15:25.669

I tried with the smaller turbos and they were too much of a drag (the T400 maxed out at 15mph in places) but it was oddly fun with the T600.

Decided to give some of the fun-looking KLJP cars a try and wasn't disappointed, they were also fairly easy to control (between 0-2 failed attempts each).

    Ibishu Covet 1.6 GTz SR-TEC EDX (M) - 09:12.790
Faster then it looks (although it does have quite a bit going for it) and overall was a great car to start with.
    20230828210445_1.jpg

    Ibishu 200BX 1.3 Rotary Turbo (JDM - M) - 08:54.492

It felt like it was understeering but got a better then expected time (around 40s less then vanilla factory configs), so maybe it wasn't :)
    20230829155227_1.jpg

    Ibishu 200BX Type-LS SR-TECNICA (Early - M) - 08:55.197

It feels like it handles better then the rotary but is perfectly matched for speed - I also lost similar amounts of time making mistakes in both (a bit too fast in corners with the rotary and having to make a J-turn after going sideways in the LS)
    20230829160650_1.jpg

Ibishu Pessima Zenith 1800 ETCC (Early - Seq) - 08:22.743

There's something oddly fun about how FWD racecars pull around corners, although the 6th gear is a bit low which hampers it on the long straights.
    20230829162742_1.jpg

    Ibishu Pessima 2.0 V6 Touring-R SR-TEC Fultrac (JDM - M) - 09:12.008

Was a bit surprised (on paper) that this matched the Covet's time considering it's newer/+2 cylinders/AWD, although they have much different characteristics.
    20230829165058_1.jpg

I considered racing the Saga but I'm going to make a custom config first, the race config has the deadly combo of RWD and little rear weight/downforce.

    Love your Nurburgring tests
As someone who only has like 20-25 hours in BeamNg and uses keyboard would you recommend tackling Nurburgring or should I get better? Mind you I have basically lost all my driving habits as I returned to gaming after like 5+ years :)

Tackling the ring is diving in the deep. The sooner you do it the better. Just be patient while learning the track as you will find yourself crashing on places you wouldn't believe you could crash.. (at least this is what happened with me) Find a car that handles well and stick with it untill you learn the track. Once you do this the experience is extremely rewarding.
Last but not least If you can afford buy a used logitech steering wheel.

    Good luck!

Start with the gavril roamer roadsport. It actually handles well for a massive boat and you should aim for under 10 minutes with that car.

I race on keyboard too, my advice would be to watch an irl video of the track (so you have an idea of what you're doing, it's long and has many blind corners) and find a car that you like to do some practice runs in (good handling and ABS, nothing high-powered/RWD). Although to be fair, the first cars I raced were a Wigeon, a DT40L, and a race Piccolina lol

I was wondering how much slower driving more economically actually is and therefore I ran 4 identical ETK 846's around the Nürburgring:

    ETK 846tt 340 (A)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Fuel consumption: 45.1L/100Km - 5.22mpg(US)
    Time: 8:21.473

    ETK 846tt 340 (A)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Fuel consumption: 19.4L/100Km - 12.12mpg(US)
    Time: 9:29.539

    ETK 846tt 340 (A)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Fuel consumption: 15.0L/100Km - 15.68mpg(US)
    Time: 10:24.805

    ETK 846tt 340 (A)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Fuel consumption: 7.8L/100Km - 30.16mpg(US)
    Time: 15:26.614

The results were timewise closer than I thought, but still roughly expected.

    I also tried to beat Covalences time in the 3 wheeler Gambler Covet;
    Ibishu Covet Gambler 500 - The Unstable(M)
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 12:41.917

As it is evident from the times, I have lost this challenge:D
After many failed attempts I lost the courage to really push for a faster time.

I also had some [PAID] fun:

    Ibishu Signia RZ 1200 (1974-1975 - M)
Mod - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 10:26.519

The flaming hot doritos powering this Signia were so hot that most of my attention was on trying to keep it from overheating. And even then I failed in the end, but did manage to get across the finish line:D

And at last, some relaxing time:

    FPU Wydra Rescue
Vanilla - Stock config - Default tune
    Time: 32:04.012

Trying a lap again in vr this time! using an ETK 800 sedan Rennspecht V8. time of 7:59. the sense of speed is incredible to say the least.

I also did the new hirochi aurata custom-asphalt trim for a time of 8:11.938. although I could do a lot better since i spun out once and was driving conservatively since it was hard to control.
