Nordschleife Challenge

DeLorean DMC-12: 10:01.518
Detuned to 130hp/6500rpm/3.44:1 final drive to match the real thing. Decided this was close enough to sub-10 to be satisfied; it's fun but easy to upset the rear with switchbacks or curbs.

 

You could set the time three minutes and five seconds back when on Döttinger Höhe, reach 88 miles per hour and arrive for a sub-seven minutes lap. Don't forget to fill up plutonium for every lap.

BTW thread resurrection coming soon, I am battling the ring with the new E36 M3 Touring at the moment. Will only post a lap if I can do sub-8 minutes.

Since the Mistral is one of my favourite mods and therefore I had driven it a lot there really were'nt any surprises. Apart from one: I did not expect the V6 GXL to be almost as fast as the 1.5 SX.

I also wanted to get a Procyon Centauri lapped finally, I had tried that a few times before but now I got it done:

Considering the troubles I had lapping the Centauri I was shocked how fast it ended up being. It is still one of my least favourite cars to drive despite the quality feel of the mod.

Comment: Haven't drove the Nordschleife in like a month and this was first attempt. Haven't trained, also second time driving this car at all ahaha. Went ok but I can do way better for sure Probably will make another run soon but ig on a different car.

Funnily enough, I raced the same cars a few weeks ago but was neglecting to post them

Hirochi Mistral 1.5 TSR ROBOT (M) - 08:24.124
Very nimble, which makes it a lot of fun and a bit scary.


Procyon Centuari S520T - 08:50.280
520hp with SUV handling is a great way to miss the corners I also finished 2 wrecked runs (one after the final straight, one before) and got 8:59 and 9:11.


Some other cars I decided to try:
Soliad Wendover Hillclimb (Tuned Config) - 07:14.965
With a 6800rpm redline and new gear ratios this thing is a monster; was quite surprised to see it beat out the ETKs.


FR17 - 05:48.637
I was very conservative in my driving (being a full minute slower then others), but crossing the finish line on a keyboard was a real achievement.


Toyota 4Runner SR5 - 10:03.641
Terrible. Dull, slow, poor handling, NA engine, and 5spd auto might make this the worst car I've raced. Not surprising for a base model offroad SUV, but at least other cars had a redeeming quality, or were so bad at something it was funny.


Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Sport - 09:45.846
That turbo goes a long way when it comes to keeping your sanity, even if it doesn't make a huge difference on the lap time.


And finally, some 80's fun:
Bruckell LeGran Sport SE V6 AWD (Facelift) - 09:34.579
Pretty good for an unsuspecting 80's sedan, although the bounciness and brake fade is still there underneath the sport upgrades.


I also attempted racing the R35 GT-R mod, but if you turn and brake it gets limited to 0.5G and I couldn't figure out how to stop it.

Probably a great novice car, it has an average amount of power and dips into corners in a fast, yet controlled manner.

By what I saw, it has A LOT of understeer. Actually, the config comes standard with some positive camber in front. Maybe some tuning can shave some seconds of its laptime

 

Decided to do it again now that the T-series has been remastered:

Gavril T82 Custom w/T600 turbo & 13500kg dry van trailer - 14:48.418
Was a bit surprised it was ~37s faster, even with a heavier trailer - compared to the old run, it hits higher speeds (even though they both had 605hp) and has better stability.

 

Hollyyy I just found this topic!!!! Ooo guys, you can't see what will come! Can't wait to submit some runs with stock, vanilla cars Maybe I will tune to, but I will stick to stock configs for some time.

 

OK. Never. EVER again. What a mental car is this, especially on Nord... Huge respect to those, who tried it. Too stiff, jumping parts, ahh..

Hehe, thanks guys! I did it for like 2 hours straight, and this is my favourite track for like 10 years by now, sooo yeah.

Huge respect for the leading and for the second guy on the leaderboard, because as you said, it's crazy!

 

Stock, Vanilla cars I said.... Yep.
I watched the other 2 F2 laps around the Nord, but I think I'm lucky, that I managed to get my hands on this Revamped version. (the other leaderboard F2s are the outdated ver.)
Hoooolly how much better it looks and handles, especially comparing to the real thing!
Give it a try, but on the Nord, it will be a hard task!

Looked like a bit of a hairy moment on the Kleines Karussell there, but you regained control fairly quickly. Was that moment hair-raising for you?

 

Oh hell yeah... Unfortunately I started this session a little bit late, so I didn't practice the last section of the track that much, - as I did with the first part- because I couldn't reach it

 

Unfortunately not the best on youtube, but I'm satisfied because this car is a monster.

Did your turbo and cooler overheat at the halfway to the track with the 2.0 Sport S?
