Hey, Thanks Yeah, i found your simple car tutorial on modding for dummies and learned alot from it while i was working on my offroad trailer for the modding challenge. And after it i thought why not make a tubeframe car, but not like everyone does. I had alot of problems and still its not perfect, crashes more like a rubber ball right now, need to redo the jbeam at one point. Yes maybe you saw that i already began on a car body, but for sure its easier to start off with a tubeframe car. at the start of the project i never could model a car body and i learned alot since then.
Yeah, the bodies that go on those cars also tend to be simpler than a "proper car". The majority of cars have so many creases and curves going every other way. Looks very nice, but not the easiest thing to model. For the rubber ball effect part of it is to try and make sure that some of the energy from the crash is absorbed in some way. Deformation does part of that, as does making sure your frame's damping is as high as it can go before the chassis just explodes on spawn.
Oh yeah that makes sense. I need to learn about the whole beam settings and play with it. I Will try to make the damping as high as possible. I had problems with the suspension stability so I added some stronger beams. Maybe still need to redo some parts of it, but i will keep this in mind, thanks alot!
After a little silence here are few progress screenshots of the body. WIP and especially the door, rear panels and roof need alot of work still.
This looks cool. It reminds me of those early 2000's modern-retro kit cars built around Beetles and Fieros. You know, those that didn't know whether they wanted to be F50s, EB110s, or 959s.
It's inspired from the Factory 5 GTM, a kit car from the 2000's, but that kit isn't a replica of any other performance car. It's just fairly similar shape whise to a Saleen s7
Love it, only thing I would change is the greenhouse, it seems too high/the lower body is too slim, making it looks slightly out of proportion. other than that its awesome
I can't make the roof lower, it's already pretty low to the cage. I could edit the cage. I will have that in my mind and will try if i can do something
I´m very much looking forward to this. Will it still have "frame-only" configurations? I´m a big fan of these.
Yes it will. That was the idea from the start, to have a cage version with addons you can drive, but also you can choose a real body for it.
Ok im now on home wifi and i can finally say that it looks good and at the same time know that it looks good
Looks Great! Would you maybe consider making a custom racing steering wheel? maybe one with a screen on it?
