Electric cars probably will happen some time as we move further and further into a science fiction world. Personally, I don't really like them because the engine is just too simple. 'real' engines aka petrol and diesel engines have so much mechanics to determine the characteristics and performance while an electric engine is simplified down to being uninteresting. Running speakers with fake engine sound.. Nah, not for me.. And so far I don't think they are the saviours of the world because the production process of the batteries aren't the best. Petrol 4 life. Although, I don't mind other people driving electric. Anything for the environment as long as I can burn my share of dinos (or corn booze)
just discoverd tesla is making an suv that has a faster 0-60 time then a porches 911, has 7 seats (real seats as well, not 5 normal seats and 2 jump seats for children), and has more cargo space then the average full size suv, while still not looking like a shoe all i have to say is: GIVE ME NAO
Electric motors have a huge advantage in torque over the usual internal combustion engine. All torque available from 0rpm and stays at a high level right through to about 30-40% of max RPM in the brushless motors used in the Tesla before finally tapering off. Gives a huge edge in 0-60's I do love the Tesla SUV/crossover though, only SUV I do like really
I guess I'm old fashioned...or just American, because I would take a massive, gas guzzling v8 over an electric motor any day. Even if the electric motor is technically a better choice. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
In the case of a Tesla Model S, I'd definitely take the Model S. And I'm American that drives a gas guzzling V8 every day.
WOT! Never knew ford rebranded mazda B series pickups as couriers, thats freakin cool. Totally an early 90s b2200. They never die.
in the case of something like the Electric Focus, or Toyota Prius (of course, for the prius, i'm pretty sure everyone with common sense would die before using it), or Nissan Leaf, then i'd probably be the same. but in the case of the Tesla Model S or Model X, i'd take the tesla (256+ Miles of range on a full charge, giant 17" Touch Screen(Bigger than the ipad) that controls EVERYTHING, as well as has things like GOOGLE Navigation, your radio and such, it even has a web browser (no flash support however, but that's a software thing, and tesla could easily add flash support)) heck, they can add features to the car via software updates (for example, the next update is going to include memory seats) so the tesla is litterally the superior choice (it's also the only good electric car IMO, when it comes to normal electric car's, ill take the gas guzzling V8 as well)
Prius is a hybrid, has an atkinson cycle internal combustion engine as its primary drive, only uses the motor for pulling away at low speeds. Should be noted that the memory seats is actually storing of driver position, not memory foam which is not a simple matter of software Its a feature I wish I had in my car though, hit a button and have the seat move back to where I like it after someones moved it, but my car only has manual seat adjustment :/
My 1998 Isuzu Frontier 280 Diesel Yamaha FJ1200 Powered Buggy (In the photo it had a 1968 Mini 1275 engine in, now it has more horsepower than the car. )
Just a humble 1.25 Fiesta... I'm currently learning to drive therefore I'm insured with my parents and 2 brothers on the same car. Once I pass though I have some money saved up for my own car .
That is one VERY nice Beamer! After mine has sat for a few days, front has dropped a little further, sits a lot better imho. I'll see if I remember to take some pics tomorrow
