The shift from "I want to share my hard work with others" to "i want others to pay for my hard work" has skyrocketed over the last 16 months. I do want to say that I don't see a problem with paid mods, but there is a point where it gets enough. For me i think part of the reason is people treating modding as a source of income rather than a way to express creativity. And yes, i can acknowledge that this might be a step in the wrong direction, but the reason this topic always gets me riled up is because of how black and white everything and everyone is. It's like two brick walls trying to talk to eachother and complaining afterwards. It's almost always "no mods can be paid" or "modders can do whatever they want!". In my opinion, i'm sick of people complaining about paid mods just as much as i am sick of people making everything paid. It is to my belief there has to be a way to balance it, and pretty strong guidelines as to what makes a mod qualified to be paid for. I will say however, most of the people against paid mods argue that "oh, there's always donations!" but rarely ever actually donates. It's rather used as a deflection which just isn't the way to handle things.

And lately it's gotten even worse. Not gonna say names as half of these people think im out to get them, but i've heard people call mods for "predatory practices" and others supporting stealing and leaking just to be able to use the mod for themselves without any remorse or empathy. And on the other half, people throw themselves under the bus for modders regardless of if their mods are good or not. And that is just so contradictory to me, which is part of the reason i've kinda given up on discussing this, but oh boy, here i am, so here's my take i guess.

In general: You can't fire with fire. You can't yell and insult your way to victory. That is not how this works.
On-Topic: The model itself being based off of a real-life one without any other changes than the branding is still not enough to make it "lore-friendly". That would mean you'd (H.S.P.) need to redesign it so it isn't a 1:1 clone. Making a mod paid isn't wrong it's just too similar to the real thing, and i think that's why people are so skeptic to this.

For the community to be able to have civilized discussions, you HAVE to be able to see both sides. And that is what i see a major shortage of; understanding
We need to be better at listening than we are at shouting at eachother.

Okay, back to studying now :p
