    Hi, another BeamMP dev here.

We're not responsible for what mods people put on their servers, but we will happily take down servers from the public server list, if they break copyright law or other laws. For that, you can contact one of the developers or admins on our discord, that's likely the fastest way.

As for private servers, we have no control over those, and don't plan to add a way to take control of them. If you see your mod hosted on a private BeamMP server, you can look up the IP (via a WHOIS request), and it will usually list an "abuse" contact, like so:

    upload_2022-12-21_18-43-17.png

You can get this info via 3rd party services like whois.com (not affiliated). From there, you can issue a regular copyright takedown request, DMCA, report piracy, or whatever else (depending on the content). If that doesn't work (for whatever reason), or you're unsure, you can contact us, but we can (in most cases) pretty much only kindly ask them to stop - private servers are really private. We could probably also help you figure out the abuse contact, and how that all works, in case you have issues, but that just depends on who has time and availability for that ;)

Hope that helped - feel free to ask me anything else.

I’ve got a friend who I’ve tried to get to stop from sharing a couple paid mods but he doesn’t give a crap. If he can’t host a server he can’t share the mods as easy.
    --- Post updated ---
I know they can ban the authkeys so they could probably ban his key and remove his ability to get new ones.

Done, just waiting for a response from a mod.

so, instead of telling server hosters to install some kind of file check plugins, BeamMP staff is instead, going to nuke any, and every server for breaking terms with spoolingdisel and iamthelaw105. thanks, I guess(not really).

For what it's worth, this was also the initial motivation behind RFactor 2's Steam item store system which gives you a hidden workshop item behind the scenes. Though no mods were published via it yet, probably due to the management issues of the studio. I still think it was a good idea in theory, though now it's overcomplicated compared to Steam's regular DLC system considering they only use it for official content.

quite a few people say "modders need money to live, therefore mods cost money", This logic works, but it doesn't point out that Beamng isn't a real job. If you seriously can't afford anything, maybe modding shouldn't be on the top list of your priorities right now. As for software modeling prices, there are... Other ways of getting these for free. While many people also say, "but i spend time making something, so you need to pay" true, but people have been putting amazing mods out since what, 2013-14, and why do we all the sudden now need paid stuff? sorry to say it but beamng is not a job it's a hobby. you are selling 40$ mods that are forza horizon mesh slaps are not worth it. (Looking at you, Crown Concepts and Spoolin). Ive only seen 1 paid mod that was worth paying for (Cherrier Picnic), and that one is cheaper than most of these paid mods that absolutley are scams, then the modders say "I know its a meshslap but you didn't make the mod so dont complain because making this meshslap took 29031312 hours of my time" remember when people tried to release paid garry's mod mods? they got pirated in a second. This is what's going to happen here and there will always be a workaround, as with many other examples, you can't really pursue legal action, and if you do it won't be profitable, as considering you need 90 dollars for your Asseto mesh slap I don't think you could afford a lawyer. Thats just my 2 cents, sorry if it comes off a bit ranty. I'm aware not everyone shares my same opinion.

Nope, this statement is wrong. these pirated copies have had literal backdoors bundled with them.
This post is by a paid mod author on a vcmod leak

gmod paid mod piracy isn't safe, and the author(s) will literally give you a copy if you ask nicely.

Well we obviously don't support THAT kind of paid mods you talk about, $40 for a mod is ridiculous, $4 is closer to an acceptable price. Of course those people lie that they need the money for a living, they are just greedy, and they also lie about the amount of hours spent on them, meshslaps are by definition fast to make (I would be surprised if one took more than a day). It's paid mods like the Picnic you mentioned that we support here.

I love playing with real cars, more than anything on BeamNG and BeamMP. But they can never integrate mods of real cars because of copyright. BeamNG devs are really cool because they allow mods, and BeamMP. What we really need is coders that actually play the game to do the work. But there is this thing money and time. A community that pools together to do that might work but those things always end up screwing over the modders and coders. I wish I could find a some one to code me a mod for BEAMMP. it's is hard. If anyone can code for beamMP HMU!! I'll pay.

I haven't read all the pages, so in case it is already said, sorry for this: I found a way to host my paid mods on a BeamMP server without they are leaked. Thanks to this guy thinking about a clever trick!

that's quite a cool way of doing it. it'd be even better if there was some way you could make it include the demo and then just random files to make it the same file size so the players could at least see the basic vehicle. but it's a start

well the demo can be a different vehicle name, so that BeamNG will show it along with the full version, and you can include the demo complete package in your server, people can use and download it. While the full version only the owners will be able to play, since you would include the fake package for it.

The actual solution for me would be to download the mods in RAM and not on disk. In this way closed the game, disappered the mod. Maybe with the possibility to choose which mod can be downloaded on disk and which on RAM, by the server owner, otherwise clients would need to much RAM. In this way you could include some (not too much) paid demos. Dumping RAM to disk is not so easy, hackers can do it probably but I don't think will be an easy task
