My EVGA 650ti boost 2gb was around $160 and I play on max settings, no postfx. My CPU bottlenecks my GPU so maybe you could see if your CPU stays cool enough that you could try to overclock it to maybe 3.6GHz or so? (Or push it as far as you can.)

I would! It's a hell of a card! As a speak, my brother is playing Sleeping Dogs at 1920x1080 with maxed out settings with 2 of those bad boys (Actually they are HD7850 but the R7 260 is the exact same card, rebranded) at 70+ fps! (Since they scale perfectly it's about 35+ fps with a single card, and that's in a very very demanding game!)

Edit: Actually the HD7850 is slightly better than the R7 260X but close enough for the comparison

It's not too bad, you will only suffer a bit in a game like BeamNG, any other game won't need a powerful CPU. Maybe in 2 years you can upgrade? Then you will be fine
