Re: Perryville I didn't want to do this, but I must defend the family name. My adversary, I hereby challenge you... ...to a duel. I'll play the role of Burr. I'm still trying to get Perryville's terrain in order, so I don't really have anything worth showing right at this moment. In the meantime I've got someone helping me out on buildings, we'll have to see how that goes.
Re: Perryville I have a pretty bad computer, and i like the map. Do you think you could do one without grass textures?
Re: Perryville I think I'm done editing the terrain for now: I may make some changes later, but the rough version's figured out. I also started work adapting the curbs to the landscape: It's a tedious process that involves a lot of adjustment and eyeballing, but the city's streets will no longer be flat and boring. With this underway, I can turn my attention back to the city's buildings. I'll be working on this for at least the next few weeks. Also, if anyone has any pointers on how better to do the sidewalk-on-landscape thing, don't hesitate to point it out. I don't quite know what you just said. Are you speaking to skiper, or me? If the latter, I'll probably need to have an FPS version, as my computer's not all that good either. In any case, however, grass textures don't bog down the graphics card that much, it's the grass meshes and the lighting that is calculated on them that do, so I'll probably go ahead and add terrain textures before any kind of release.
Re: Perryville I've just added a new toy: Suffice it to say that you'll have a fair opportunity to obliterate your suspension. I've decided to work toward an early release of the map. More information in the first post.
Re: Perryville I would say that looks good so far, but do you have a parking garage? Every city has a parking garage.
Re: Perryville There's a duel parking complex built on two adjacent blocks in the current version of the map, connected by a two-level skyway. You can see a D-series plummeting off of the roof of the taller north structure in the first post.
Re: Perryville - Iteration 1 Bump; tentative first iteration release. Let me know if you have any performance problems.
Re: Perryville - Iteration 1 will there be any chance of this being released by the 18th of June...if so you can enter into the contest I'm holding: A-friendly-contest-) (completely finished)
Re: Perryville - Iteration 1 Most likely not. This map has been a WIP since at least November; I likely would not be able to accomplish much. Moreover, I'm preparing to head out on a two-week trip, and won't be back till within ten days of that date. I doubt I could get much in within that window. Thanks for the invitation, however.
Re: Perryville - Iteration 1 ok yea no problem man...to give some encouragement...it looks realllly good and i think it would be an awesome addition to all the other forum terrains...also hae fun on ur trip lol
Re: Perryville - Iteration 1 You've got a misplaced .ter file, it searches for "levels/theTerrain65.ter" and therefore we only get the buildings and the water. Just change the .ter directory to "levels/perryville/theTerrain65.ter" and put the "theTerrain65.ter" file in the perryville folder.
