I don't know how realistic it is at 1% but isn't this behaviour exactly the one you want on a downhill slope? So you have engine braking instead of overheating the brake pads.

We seriously, desperately need to have the D/OD distinction replicated. Several cars actually have a position for it in their gear selector, or space for it on the cluster, and it would make a world of difference WRT how driveable the automatics are. Lack of this feature (despite separate D/OD positions visible on the console) is the one thing holding the Wendover Sport SE 4400 back from being one of the game's top driver's cars.

Not a normal behavior. In vehicleController.lua they already have a parameter that says above what % of brake you retain aggression, they can do this for upshift too. Currently you can create a scenario where you accelerate and right before it upshifts you let off and gently put your foot on the brake and the car continues to scream until rpms drop which can happen after a long time if you are on a slight slope and the brake you applied is not enough to slow the car significantly. In this situation it will be normal for the trans to upshift atleast once, you don't engine brake at 6500rpm for 10 seconds straight.

Issue: Scintilla race ESC/TC is incredibly unpredictable.

Coming from other simulators I expect a race ESC/TC system to make the car more drivable at the limit by preventing wheel slip/excessive oversteer.

While a road based sport(+) esc mode is designed to make the car playful and allow some oversteer, a race focused system should instead aim for only a small amount of slip and maximise acceleration.

The current race esc feels more like a sporty road based system that allows for a lot of oversteer before intervening, but when paired with a less forgiving race car (often with less steering lock) it is very hard to control. I believe the current system allows for more slip than most race cars do, even when TC is set to its most relaxed settings.

    Suggestion:

Implement a multi level traction control system that allows for different levels of slip.

I've noticed a problem locking differentials on the tri-drive T series in the 0.33 update:

Certain configurations don't lock everything simultaneously. For example, toggling the differential lock control will (on certain saved vehicle configs) unlock the interaxle lock while locking the differentials and vice versa.

I can open the advanced powertrain control app and manually lock everything together but toggling the differential lock control again will desync the various lockers.

This issue persists on system and game reboot and only affects certain custom configurations that I have built. Other custom configurations work as expected: locking or unlocking all of the lockers simultaneously.

My friend encountered the identical problem with at least one of her custom configs as well.

    I am on a windows machine, 9th gen i7 and 2070.

Noticed more or less the same. The difflock switch next to the engine start button is always there, weather the truck has difflocks or not. On some configs (none custom) the button works, on others not. Diffs that are lockable can be locked individually on the powertrain visualizer app.

I have tried all troubleshooting steps including a clean reinstall, problem persists.

Yesterday one of my friends gave me a whirl his Mercedes E280. The most noticeable thing on this car is the coolant temperature gauge, it didn't lie. Took it for 15~20min to go up, the temperature only reached 90°C during stop-and-go driving in city, when driving on motorway it went down to about 70~75°C

My first car, a 1st Gen Audi A8 with the 299HP 4.2 V8 and quattro did the exact same thing. Was quite astonishing for such an old vehicle to see HOW exact the gauges are :D

can we get belt squeal from damaged or loosened tensioners. it happens irl if you SLAM on the gas repeatedly over time the belt will gradually break down or snap. you would start losing power to the alternater and cooling systems. a simple BELT snapped mechanism not just for crashes but when the vehicle is driven too hard too long... or if its lugging the motor way too hard. that would make the game UNDENIABLY realistic. belts breaking would be an interesting high speed chase twist. I would love to see that happen as a quality of life update. if you drive through a puddle even. that would be a perfect time for belt squeaking if its an older car. alternator seizing would be interesting but I am getting gradually off topic. the belt is part of the engine and part of the drivetrain as a result. without it on modern cars the engine wont run very long and will shut down

Coolant headgasket leak rate? Wen this introduced?

After the oil pan damage update I forgot to check "engine thermal debug" UI so the "Coolant headgasket leak" must happened in a later game update. Previously you can drive away with a partly overheated engine as long as you cool it down quickly. You could continue driving it with decreased performance but you can drive it as long as the engine stays cool. Now it's no more. If you overheat the block you got oil leak even if your oil pan is not damaged, and if the cylinder wall overheated you'll lose coolant, and the coolant leak won't stop even if you cool down the engine to below 90 within 1 second. This makes driving even more unforgiving, in other words, disincentivize aggressive driving/driven till destruction/vehicular combat/demolition derby or simply drives like a maniac and enjoy the car gradually breaking apart, thing.

After this, it's more like a "timer" when the irrecoverable leak triggered, continue driving gently or idling in park or drive in shallow water to cool down leads to very similar time to engine disabled.
