By the way, don't you just love when the first suggestion you get is to make an hearse out of your mod?
Wait....we made it onto modsgaming.ru...i thought the mod wasn't good enough to be stolen ....guess i was wrong....the dev team got credited tho....at least they credit us http://modsgaming.ru/load/beamng_dr...mod_avtomobil_cadillac_dts_remake/38-1-0-7596
You know what? It definitely needs a lot of work. But. This seems like a very good start. I really like the idea, and the mod is not NEARLY as terrible as people say it is. Compared to other mods, that is.
It's very sad that these sites has to steal content from here. Why couldn't they instead just ask for permission from mod creators to host stuff on their sites? And if they get no as a response, respect the creator's decision and leave it at that.
Some people have a very twisted idea of theft... Sure, I can understand the author's expectation to have a say in the restoration, but to call this a "stolen" mod is ridiculous. Stealing implies you claimed authorship on someone else's work. Considering almost all the functional parts of the original mod have been ditched and pretty much remade, how is this a "stolen" mod, when all is left is a set of 3D meshes, ripped from another game, no less?
While I completely agree with you that these guys are total asshats and should burn in hell, I just can't help but think that it's awfully ironic given the origins of this mod. I think it's a pretty well stated fact that the mods created by the authors of said "Russian" sites are total and utter bollocks compared to the official vehicles and our own mod authors, but despite that, they are still their mods. Yes, I'm well ware that the meshes they use are ripped from wherever, and the jbeam is bootlegged from BeamNG, but they are still the ones who assembled their "mods" The reason I say this is because this mod, which you claim to be yours, originates from a Russian mod site, does it not? If you think about it, is taking one of their mods and uploading it here really any different to them uploading our mods over there, because it seems like the same ball game to me. I downloaded and had a quick test of your mod, which to be frank, I found rather disappointing. Aside from the various new configs added, and some sound clips from what appears to be recorded from a Daytona USA arcade machine (can't imagine how much work that must have taken), I fail to see much difference between this one and the original. I mean, just look at this: Are you seriously saying you have the audacity to call this "your mod" when, despite the help of 20 odd members or whatever, you can't even manage to move a few nodes about to match the model. Honestly, that's just fucking lazy mate :\ I can't imagine how the rest of the jbeam must be.... I could easily download that trueno from our little commy comrades, slap some cropped Urusei Yatsura porn shins on it, release it here and call a day. But there's a reason I don't do that, and that's because I have pride in my own work, and Iove the AE86. I love it so much that I've created a model from scratch to emulate the real thing as best as I can, and gone through about 3 jbeams because I want the handling to reflect that. I could release it right now, in it's unfinished state, and enjoy all of the awesome stamps, but I don't do that because quite frankly I care more about doing my best to create something I'm proud to say I made rather than growing my e-peen (on a forum populated mostly by guys to boot). I honestly think the only reason you released this here is something to do with the "fishing for forum fame" thing, can you honestly look at this and tell me this is the best you can do? And don't give us that "it's a WIP, therefore it's immune for all criticisms" bullshit, because it's obvious it's a lie. If anything though, this just makes me disappointed, to be honest you're not a bad guy, and I believe that if you would just put in the effort you could make mods as good as anyone, there's nothing holding you back but you. I'm sorry if my rant sounded harsh, but to be brutally honest you're not going to improve at all of all you hear is what you want to hear. If you really want to make this mod, at least use the original models (I have DSF, I'd be happy to send you the original mesh WITH the high poly interior), get an up-to-date jbeam, and match the two together. It's really not that hard, you just need willpower
We actually had a HQ interior ready for the DTS, but it isn't that well detailed, the only present detail is the front half of the cabin and for some reason, they gave up on it.
I'm gonna go and agree with that However, for a matter of fact, the model of the original one is from a GTA SA mod, which is converted from DRV: SF The door jbeam is a lazy job by me the rest is quite okay Tho... But overally, i agree with you for that and will try to improve it It's not really a rant to me, it's really constructive Thanks a lot P.S: I guess WIP is released because I need to hear constructive criticisms from better modern. The real world means that you have to accept you're not the best. I decided to grow up from the time of the older Cadillac DTS release a long time ago (I didn't wanna hear constructive criticisms back then and refer to them as hate) to step out to the real world Turned out well, I guess
