    Hi,
I am working on yet another mod, and an issue that I've had before has emerged again:

I can see and edit some of the .dds files, but not all of them. Those I can't even open, in any software. This applies for several cars and also for files from the common folder. Am I doing something wrong? It's been happening ever since I started modding 2 years ago, so it's been a few versions of Beam since then.

    Things I have already tried:
    • Extract the files again from the corresponding .zip in the content directory.
    • Extract the files both with 7Zip and WinRAR
    • Reinstall the game and try that again
    Software I have tried:
    • Last version Gimp + Last version DDS Plugin
    • Photoshop 2019
    • DDS Viewer current release
I don't think my game is broken because in-game all the textures work. I don't think it's the software either because it's always the same files I can't open.

Picture to illustrate, in this case Grand Marshall textures:

This is a bit of a problem when you want to reuse those for new models, which is usually the more efficient thing to do both effort and game-performance-wise... Mainly because I have to do the UV mapping by pure guesswork and trial-error.

Does anyone know what could the problem be here, if there is one?

    Thanks in advance!

PS: idk if this is the right section, since I've seen more questions on content creation, hope it can be moved if it's wrong.

They are DDS BC7 format. Not many programs can open them.
Photoshop with the Intel Plugin can.
