Dang man your far better than I am, i havent taken the old sedan around the track though yet. I edited the post above with info about the video im about to post. I'll try the sedan next. Also im going to start Calling this the Coovargo Challenge - - - Updated - - - 1 Lap|Stock Class Ibishu Covet|Rally suspension|Exhaust Delete I Recommend give it a shot with the stick shift. 1 Lap : 2 Minutes
Haha, you can call it what you want. That was a pretty good run. I'll have to try it in manual. I tried the Bolide just now and all I can say is wow. It's the most powerful car I've ever driven, and I love it. I don't know what happened in this run. At 0:43 I swore that the tree was going to fall on me, I thought it was an optical illusion and I wouldn't see it in the replay, but it was there. I'd never seen it before. Doesn't it look like it suddenly started to lean? The tree actually appears to lean forward in relation to the tree behind it. Maybe it was the speed I was going and the field of view? I don't know, I was only going 60. It happened again at 2:34 this time with a row of trees. After that I was a little shakey from adrenaline and spun out and gave up. You get a little excited when things you know can't happen, seem to be happening. Going to try again later. Work now.
Not bad man i havent really drove the civetta so i have little experience with it, didnt they just tweak it to make it run better?
Yes. As you can see by my insane jumps and flooring it down the bridge the suspension is very resilient. Much more air and im sure the shock towers would punch through the hood. Happened on my 97 cougar.
I just got a 2:06 in the sports version of the pickup but I took the flatbed, bumpers, mirrors and spare wheel out to save some weight. Also I was going easy trying not to crash so I could get a >2 minute time with more practice. Could get less if I took the doors out as well For me 3 laps is just impossible to do without failing. Edit-- Just got the same time in the Civetta, would have been a few seconds quicker but I flipped the car on the bridge and crossed the line on the roof. Also I was scared as f the whole time doing that cause it has no grip at all.
I just finished my run in the Civetta Bollide. I was able to finish 3 laps without crashing. I recorded it in 1080p as a test but as I've found out my conversion software does not convert it correctly. I have posted what I could of the video up top. The raw files play fine on my end, but when I convert them the first 10 seconds are audio only. I've tried this a couple times now with the same result. Going to try a different software to see if I can get the first few seconds to show up. Update 8/15/2013 5:42PM: Video fixed.
I feel like if I had to pay for every car I totaled attempting to do this I'd be millions in debt. Also, I have gained a burning hatred for rocks.
ScottL, did you finish 3 laps? Your video seems to cut to another clip before you get to the bridge. Your lap times were 2:03 and 2:07. Also, the end slow motion scene was pretty awesome.
Yeah I did three laps but I thought the start point was being used, not the tree next to the bridge. -_-
An understandable mistake. I'll post your times based on that point then, since it is still in line with the course. From that point the times are as follows: 2:04, 2:07, and 2:10. I just did a run in the Cabster and it was the most hilarious thing ever. Video up top! 8/15/13 I just did another run in the Ibishu Covet and obliterated my previous record. From 5:45 to 5:19. 8/16/13
In the first video at the top, (Post #1), how'd you get the timer. What editing software and how? I really want to know. pf. - - - Updated - - - How did you get the timers? What software and how. Please tell me.
While there was some significant slowdown skewing my time, I'd say it was about a flat 1:41. Sad to say I could only get one lap in at the speed I want with the poor framerate my PC runs the game at impairing my reaction times, and it took probably a few hundred tries because there would always be a lag spike right at one of my turn-in points which would cause me to fly into a tree. If I find some way to get it working properly with my hardware, or they make some optimization patches in later versions which work on my system, I'll certainly make another attempt with all 3 laps.
The timer is not an in-game feature. I use Adobe Premiere to cut my videos and add a simple frame related timer to it. If you set it to your correct frame-rate and do not count drop frames (where your computer didn't catch up while recording) it can be pretty accurate. You can check this by comparing the in-video timer with the timeline of your video editor. You don't have to have a timer. Alternatively you can just cut your video from start to finish only and post the full length of that. @Spec Racer Z: I'd say its about a 1:41 too, great lap! I had to deal with the frame-rate issues too. I can barely record steady at 60 fps with a GTX 680 on 720p with PostFX off and everything set to medium/normal. I had some frustrating low-fps-crashes too. Maybe my recording-drive can't keep up with it, because sometimes it drops down to stable but only 30 fps for a few seconds.
I went into processes and put BeamNG's priority at Above Average and turned down anti-aliasing. It only helped a little, but it was enough. Car: Ibishu Covet Rally configuration Shifting: Manual Controller: Xbox 360 Controller Lap 1 - 1:36.915 Lap 2 - 1:37.975 Lap 3 - 1:39.566 Total - 4:54.456 My heart was racing pretty hard and I had forgotten what lap I was on by the end of lap 3 with how anxiously I was expecting a lag spike to come out of nowhere after the first lap. I'm not sure I have a video editor capable of timing the video by the frames (let alone putting a timer in the video) to get an accurate result, so I just used a stopwatch and timed them that way. These times are probably a bit slower than in-game time as a consequence. Edit: Split the video into 3 segments on the exact frames when the body of the thin tree just goes out of view and looked at the length of each segment, times are a little more exact if still based on a flawed time system. Considering all that changed is about one tenth on the total, I'm more accurate with a stopwatch than I thought.
My first attempt of Small Island Rally Note: sorry for glitched/bugged tire marks This was done on a DFGT wheel in Manual Transmission and 450 degree (half lock) steering 2nd rally NOTE: sorry for lack of game sound forgot to record that /= track time of 5:51 (i'd say.)
Nothing modified, just the straight Rally configuration, an Xbox 360 controller with dynamic steering, and the various bits of racing knowledge I've picked up. It's about keeping excessive sliding to a minimum using precise minimal steering inputs to maintain speed and grip, using the throttle and brakes to balance the car around the intense elevation changes and turns of Small Island as best as possible without damaging or destroying anything (In this regard especially, BeamNG captures the subtleties of riding these strong rally elevation changes better than anything in memory), and finding the right compromise between the straighter lines found off-road and the greater grip of the pavement. Plus a lot of practice and memorization of the course so you know exactly where you're free to dip two wheels off the track without catching a rock, tree, or nasty bump.
