To be fair i do really like how Unreal Engine 4 looks but pretty much everything made with it looks very similar in terms of lighting. But i guess the engine does a really good job of that anyway. Expect truly next gen reflections on the plates as well as next gen wall paper since flat walls are going the way of the dodo in UE4. I recommend that everyone downloads the UE4 realistic lighting demo, it looks fantastic, lighting and textures are all awesome but it will push a few systems quite hard considering it is a single room
Some initial thoughts. Surely the electricity would be pretty dead by the time the water reached that part of the ship as opposed to taking out each light one at a time? The boat looks pretty and it was nice to see things floating The sounds are cool, just like the visuals. They really should say hi to some of the people who made hydrophobia. While that game had many flaws its water physics were fairly ok, its also quite old so should be able to get scaled up quite a bit on modern hardware. It would have been really nice to see the water filling the room via the stairs and doorways etc. Take a look at the particle effects at 3:27, they seemed a bit odd. It shows promise but right now they have some pretty models in UE4 and some basic water physics (things float in water) and im not sure if that is built into UE4 in the first place. What they showed didn't seem to be anything particularly special and would have looked much better even with fairly crude dynamic water physics. So in short i think they should have given it a bit more time before launching that sort of footage and just showed the detail of the model since they seem to have done a good job of that.
I'll presume the electricity circuit is the same as the one in the houses ( if one goes out the others stay on), that's my guess. And yeah the water looks muddy, but this is a WIP so we'll have to wait for the final thing. BTW i heard the ship will sink in the same time limit as the real one (like 2-3 hours) not sure about this info.
I pledged 20 bucks to the Titanic thing. Looks really cool. I don't even have a computer that'll run it, I just want to see it happen.
