Case: High speed rear end collision near Norte Airport on a 4-lane highway, August 17th 2022.
    Vehicles Involved: 2021 Cherrier Vivace 160 (registered CI 246HQ) and 2012 Volvo S60 T3 (registered ZT 728MO)
Description: Robert and Michelle Sanderson were in a rental Cherrier Vivace while on holiday in Italy. Just a few minutes after leaving the airport, the check engine light in the Vivace lit up, and they started to loose power- quickly coming to a stop in the left lane of the highway. Vehicles came by at speed, but none hit them and they were safely able to get to safety on the grass in the centre of the highway. However, as they were dialling 112, a Volvo S60 driven by Maria Filiccio slammed into them at high speed after not being able to stop in time- nearly sending the Vivace into the other lane.
Injuries: Robert and Michelle were unharmed, and Maria only had light whiplash injuries and bruising from the airbags in her Volvo.
Aftermath: Both vehicles were deemed total losses, and sent to a local scrapyard within 2 weeks. As the Vivace had been in an unsafe position due to the breakdown, the rental company covered the value of Maria's S60 and she was able to buy a replacement. Robert and Michelle were given a replacement vehicle, and able to enjoy the rest of their holiday.

Unknown Or Undetermined, Ibishu Pessima, owned and operated by a private individual, Fatal accident occurred April 7, 2022, near the ETK Driver Experience Center, Germany:

    (view of the accident site)
Location: near the ETK Driver Experience Center, Germany
    Date & Time: 04/07/2022, 1210 UTC
    Vehicle(s): Ibishu Pessima
    Owner/Operator: Private
    Vehicle Damage: Destroyed
    Defining Event: Unknown or Undetermined
    Injuries: 2 (Fatal)
    Type: Instruction

    Factual Information:
On April 7, 2022, at about 1210 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), an Ibishu Pessima sedan, owned by a private individual, and being operated by a student driver, was destroyed following a collision with a tree following an abrupt move during low-speed turn instructions near the ETK Driver Experience Center, Germany. The student driver receiving instruction and driving instructor sustained fatal injuries. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.

According to the father of the student, who was also the owner of the car, the purpose of the trip was to conduct various advanced tasks during a 3-hour period around the ETK center. The father contacted the instructor 2 weeks before the accident, and he reported that the instructor knew the student well, and that he had gone with him on 4 previous trips before.

According to family members and friends of the instructor, he was a very well known and experienced person, having been a race car driver and car test driver before. He reportedly logged "thousands of hours" on various cars of different make and models.

The father reported that he bought the vehicle from a local car dealership about 8 months before the accident as a gift to his son on his 18th birthday. The vehicle was well maintained and had no previous accident or damage history. It was manufactured in 2000.

At least two instructors (who were operating at the same area at the time of the accident) reported seeing the accident vehicle doing different tasks. Nothing appeared unusual.

There was one witness to the accident, a tree trimmer who was near the accident site. He was contacted by investigators and reported that he saw the vehicle approach the turning area at low speed, he added that, for an unknown reason, the vehicle suddenly veered left while doing the normal right turn and struck a rock, sending it airborne before striking a tree with the front left section. The witness couldn't confirm which person was on the controls when the accident happened.

An on scene examination of the accident site revealed that the vehicle struck a stationary rock located on the left shoulder of the right curve, tire marks were located before and on the rock, but no more tire marks were located at the accident scene, which suggests the vehicle went airborne after impacting the rock, which is consistent with what the witness reported. The vehicle subsequently impacted a tree with the front left section (Figure 1).

    (Figure1)
The vehicle sustained extensive crushing damage to the front left area. The front left wheel separated on impact and was found under the vehicle. The front hood was impact damaged and separated and located near the vehicle. The engine was impact damaged along with the compartment. The front compartment was crushed from the roof towards the floor, which is consistent with the vehicle impacting the tree while airborne (Figure 2). Examination of the vehicle revealed that there were no anomalies consistent with a preimpact failure or malfunctions.

    (Figure 2)

    Medical History and Toxicology:
Toxicology testing performed on the student driver at the Forensic Sciences Laboratory was negative for carbon monoxide, ethanol, and drugs. The accident driver checked “no” on his medical certificate form for all listed conditions, including “sleep disorders, pauses in breathing while asleep, daytime sleepiness, loud snoring.”

Toxicology testing performed on the instructor at the Forensic Sciences Laboratory was negative for carbon monoxide, ethanol, and drugs. The accident driver checked “no” on his medical certificate form for some of the listed conditions, including "pauses in breathing while asleep, loud snoring." The driver had a history of sleep related issues, but his sleep schedule in the days leading to the accident couldn't be determined. The family noted that, even though the lab tests turned negative, he was known for taking sedating medications and it was likely that he was taking them prior to the accident.

Autopsy reports from the German Medical Examiner state that the deaths were caused by blunt force trauma to the internal organs, extremities, and head, but it couldn't rule out the possibility of an unknown medical condition to the instructor driver before/after the impact.

    - Analysis:
The vehicle was destroyed following a collision with a tree after an abrupt move during a low-speed sudden veer off while conducting driving lessons at the ETK Driver Experience Center. The two occupants were fatally injured. Examination of the vehicle revealed that there were no anomalies consistent with a preimpact failure or malfunctions. The instructor had a history of sleep related and health issues, and the autopsy report stated that it was possible that he suffered an unknown condition before impact, but the investigation was unable to confirm if these conditions contributed to the accident.

Based on the available information, It could not be determined why the vehicle suddenly veered off the travel lane.

    - Cause:
    • A loss of control at low speed for reasons that could not be determined based on available information.

    "Track Day Terror"

Case: Drunk driving leads to a fatal collision, September 22nd, 2018

    Description:
After stumbling into his Roamer after getting drunk at his younger brother's BBQ party, Patrick Johnson, a 37 year old factory worker, decided to take a shortcut on a narrow bridge that passes over the Belasco City Raceway in order to get back to his apartment complex sooner. However, just as he was approaching the bridge, he passed out with his foot fully pressed down on the accelerator as his Roamer began to veer off the road, causing it to hit the bridge barrier, sending the SUV flying into the air before crashing down onto the race track below. At the same time, Maria Watts, a 24 year old mechanic, was coming out of a blind corner with her friend, Ray Connors, a 26 year old street racer, right as Patrick's SUV came crashing onto the course. Maria swerved and braked hard, but she still clipped the SUV, causing her SBR4 to go into a skid. Ray managed to avoid hitting the Roamer, but the sudden weight shift caused the rear of his 200BX to kick out, slamming into the driver's side door of Maria's SBR4 before coming to a stop and the start of the next corner.

Injuries: Patrick was killed once his SUV hit the ground, as the force of the impact was so great, he cracked his skull in two when it hit the asphalt of the race track. Maria broke some of her toes on her right foot. Ray only received a concussion, along with minor cuts and bruises.

    Vehicles involved: 2001 Gavril Roamer LXT, modified 2013 Hirochi SBR4 TT S2, modified 1992 Ibishu 200BX Type-LS

    Location: West Coast, USA.

Aftermath: Paramedic's took Maria and Ray to the local hospital for treatment, while a coroner took Patrick's body to the morgue. Funeral services were held for Patrick once the investigation was closed, with his brother refusing to forgive himself after not making sure his brother didn't have his car keys on him. After being discharged from the hospital, Maria and Ray both took their cars to a local collision repair center in Belasco City, and after a few weeks, both of their cars were fully repaired and ready to race again. Patrick's Roamer was brought to a local junkyard where it was stripped for parts before being crushed.

Case: Reckless driving and multiple hit and runs. December 16th, 2011

    Description:
On a calm Friday morning, the MPD was getting reports of a reckless driver doing dangerous manouvres on a residential street in Little Haiti. The dispatcher was on the line with a woman who lived there. She gave the police a description of the car before it floored down the street, losing control and sideswiping a parked vehicle. The department already knew of this car because earlier in the week on a Tuesday the same car succesfully fled from a traffic stop in Opa-Locka, where the chase was terminated due to excessive speeds.
The runner, a silver brand new Chrysler 300c was speeding through a busy intersection just barely missing passing cars. It crossed the overpass into a remote industrial section next to the highway where the suspect entered another cross-section, but unfortunately for him a man in a wagon lightly skimmed his Chrysler where it proceeded further down the street and turning right into another before coming to a stop. The man was gone before authorities arrived on scene.

    Injuries:
    None. The suspect was fine.

    Vehicles involved:
    2011 Chrysler 300c, 2007 Gavril Vertex S, 1989 Ibishu Pessima 1.8 DX Wagon

    Location:
First impact was on NW 53rd Street in Little Haiti. The second was on NW 32nd Avenue, the car stopped in NW 40th Street both inbetween Brownsville and Allapattah. Miami Florida.

Aftermath: The reason why the suspect stopped is because his Chrysler's right axle was bent during the initial impact. And after the second the vehicle was rendered undrivable and therefore it was totaled and still remains in a scrapyard today. The Vertex was a used cheap car so it did not really cost too much to repair, and it's still on the road but under the hands of a different owner. The Pessima was a complete rusty beater car so the owner did not even bother. Surprisingly it's somehow still on the road to this day.

After two days since the accident. The suspect was found hiding in his house in Model City after the department searched for information given by the officer at the traffic stop. The driver was identified as a Hispanic 34-year old male named Kian Guzman. Authorities forced the door open and arrested him on the spot, he was charged with: fleeing from a traffic stop+ police, driving with an expired license and two counts of hit-and-run. And once again fleeing from police. He landed himself in prison for 5 years.

Crash Description: Fatal Accident / Two Vehicles Involved / Four Victims

    March 8th, 2002

12:27 P.M: Utah Highway Patrol received a 911 call from a distraught woman near the Northern Lookout point. The caller, identified as 35 year old Kathy Taylor, stated that she and her son had been involved in a "catastrophic accident", with one vehicle falling over the edge of a cliff. The caller also stated that she was trapped in the car with her door jammed, but she was otherwise feeling ok. She did not, however, know the status of the occupants in the other vehicle.

12:53 P.M: Two cars from the Utah Highway Patrol arrived to the scene of the accident, finding the caller's son, identified as 11 year old Anthony Taylor, frantically waving officers down. After blocking either side of the road, the officers exited their vehicles and began to render aid to both the caller and her son. Both officers managed to remove Kathy from the vehicle, reporting that neither her or her son suffered major injuries.

1:09 P.M: After aiding the two victims, officers began to search for the second vehicle, quickly finding it sitting on the edge of a steep cliff. Both officers hastily made their way to the vehicle, finding the driver unconscious, but alive, though the passenger door wide open. The driver, identified as 21 year old Nickoli Drasky, was heavily injured, with a large gash on his chest. Both officers attempted to open the door, but found it jammed due to damage, and thus refrained from attempting further. From the window of the vehicle, one officer began to render aid, while the other returned to Anthony and Kathy to flag down the ambulance.

1:27 P.M: Medical Personnel arrive to the scene and began to treat the victims. They successfully removed Nickoli from his vehicle and pulled him back up the cliff, where he soon regained consciousness.

1:51 P.M: After receiving treatment, a responding Crash Detective (CD) began to question the victims. Both Anthony and Kathy told a similar story, stating that Nickoli had appeared in front of them, driving on the wrong side of the road on a blind curve. The initial impact force, combined with the angle, was enough to shunt Nickoli's vehicle up and over, sending it over the edge. When the CD began to question Nickoli, he hesitantly spoke of the same story, though with several details changed. He stated he had been going the speed limit, and that both he and Kathy were driving down the center of the road, and that he tried to dodge to the right, but ultimately collided.

1:57 P.M: After questioning the three victims, one officer began to casually converse with the still distressed Nickoli. This was when the man asked a simple question, though it "stunned everyone into silence", as the officer put it. According to Nickoli, he had been riding with a friend, having fun on the narrow roads. The conversing officer and several EMTs rushed back down to the vehicle, finding no passenger. However, the passenger door was wide open. This immediately sparked a search, with four policemen and two EMTs trekking down the steep cliff to look for a body.

2:17 P.M: After searching for several minutes, police ultimately discovered a heavily disfigured body at the base of the cliff, about 150 meters from the initial impact site. The body was later identified by the Utah Coroner's Office as 20 year old Tanner Lucky. Using a blanket retrieved from an ambulance, an EMT covered the body and requested Coroner Transport. Afterwards, the three other victims, Kathy, Anthony, and Nickoli, were transported to the nearby hospitals, with varying degrees of urgency.

2:30 P.M: Two journalists from the Salt Lake City Tribune arrived and began to photograph the scene, though were held back by police as the scene was still being cleaned up. At the same time, Coroners were still retrieving several body parts that had detached from Tanner's body. One younger police officer ultimately had to be removed from the scene, as he couldn't stand the sight or smell of the body.

2:57 P.M: The first tow trucks arrived on scene and began to remove the trashed cars, though having massive difficulty with Nickoli's vehicle, as it had come to rest dangerously close to the edge of the cliff. After another half hour, however, the scene was eventually cleared, with the roads reopening after another fifteen minutes.

Crash Recreation: Kathy and her son Anthony were driving westbound on a cliff-side road, heading for a family function at a tourist spot. At the same time, Nickoli and his friend Tanner were heading eastbound, enjoying the speed and maneuverability of Nickoli's car. Approaching a blind curve, Nickoli chose to apex the curve, crossing into the oncoming lane, into the path of Kathy. Both cars met at a 40% overlap and at an off angle, which propelled Nickoli's car up and to the right, sending it rolling down the cliff. Tanner, who wasn't wearing his seatbelt, was smashed against the door several times. When the vehicle came to rest at the edge of a cliff, Tanner's body hit the door once more, smashing it open. He tumbled down the cliff, his body hitting several rocks and bushes. He didn't survive the fall.

Injuries (if any): Anthony was treated for several bruises and mild cuts, as he was seated in the back seat of the vehicle. Kathy was treated for a broken leg, fractured hip, cracked rib, and a small gash on her forehead. Nickoli was treated for two broken legs, 3 broken ribs, a broken arm, broken collarbone, and several gashes on both his head and chest. Tanner was DOA.

Accident Site: The north side of Utah, USA.

Vehicles Involved: A Sand colored 1988 Ibishu Pessima HX Wagon and a Light Blue colored 1986 Ibishu Covet GTz Turbo II. Both vehicles were totaled upon impact.

Aftermath (lawsuit etc): After the accident, Anthony and Kathy fully recovered, ultimately returning to the accident site to create a small memorial for Tanner. Nickoli, on the other hand, was confined to a wheelchair for three years, before finally making a full recover. However, he had recovered in prison, as he was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter. He served four out of the ten years he was given, serving the rest of his sentence on parole. Neither the Taylor family nor the Lucky family chose to file a lawsuit, stating that "...the guilt of killing his own friend should be enough punishment...".

    That’s just disturbing.
But maybe that’s because my father’s name is Tanner.

    Good job!

    Investigation by Firwood County Police.

After tracking down phone data, FCPD concluded the man in question was texting and driving. The driver left at 08:51:03 AM, and the last text message he has sent was sent at 09:01:59, 18 seconds before collision. The next message in that chat was sent at 09:02:15, by the mans 16 y/o daughter, just 2 seconds before collison, giving a reason why there were no skidmarks. On top of that, the vehicle in question wasn't taxed, and in particular the tires were outdated, saying they must have been replaced in mar. 2007. And the tires were summer tires, which meant less grip and less traction in snowy conditions. As it turned out, the vehicle was last maintained by it's garage in July 2006, with the mechanic stating it was better to scrap the vehicle. The male was also speeding, going 59 mph at the time of the collision, on a road with a max speed of 30.

FCPD came out with the following causes:
    • The vehicle was last maintained 8 years before collision, nor was it taxed.
    • The vehicle had summer tires fitted instead of winter tires.
    • Those summer tires must have been replaced 7 years before collision.
    • The driver used his phone while driving.
    • The driver was speeding.

    Aftermath:
The driver of the LeGran was in a coma for about 27 days, and arrested when he was released from hospital. He pled guilty to all charges and was sentenced to 2 years in prison, where he spent 7 months. The LeGran was scrapped. Firwood County promoted Anti-Text-and-Drive and Anti-Speeding campaigns. Jones Brothers Transport Limited went out of business in April of 2017, and the T45 was scrapped later that year.

    Investigation:
Autopsy records prove the driver of the AW was under the influence of multiple substances, like alcohol, cocaïne and MDMA. Friends of the driver who died, including one of the two surviving passengers, also stated he drank multiple beers, all the way until the morning. He was also very tired, sleeping a estimated 2 hours in the 48 hours leading up to the crash. CCTV data 200 meters from the crash site saw the car driving at high speed. It was estimated the vehicle drove at a speed between 110 and 120 km/h. The vehicle braked 51 meters from the impact. Also, only the 2 survivors were wearing seatbelts.

In it's final report, the Polizia noted the following causes:
    • The driver had 3x the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.
    • The driver used drugs.
    • The driver and front passenger were not equipped with seatbelts.
    • The driver was tired, sleeping 2 hours in the 48 hours leading up to the crash.
    • The driver was speeding.
    Aftermath:
The highway was closed during the investigation, leading to heavy traffic in the surrounding cities. Both the Hirochi and the AW were scrapped after the accident. The Norte government has invested for variable message signage above the highway, but due to the COVID pandemic, these were never installed. All the other vehicles are still driven until this day.

wow this was a long one. :p

Severe Crash in Norte, Italy: April 28, 1972

On April 28, 1972, at about 6 AM, Martha D'Angello was driving her blue Autobello Piccolina without a seatbelt. She tried to avoid an accident with a stolen Autobello Stambecco Campo loaded with thieves when her car flew off the road and into a ditch. Since she was not wearing a seatbelt, she flew against the windshield. The thieves were shocked. While they were criminals, they didn't mean to injure anyone. As they were deciding what to do, a Gavril Barstow was driving over the speed limit and crashed into the Stambecco. The thieves car now had some damage, but they didn't care (Stambeccos are tanks). They had however, decided that fleeing was the option they were taking. But before they could, a Burnside Special taxi crashed rear-ended them. Inside was Jeffrey Richards and Susan Richards, a recently married couple that were in Italy for their honeymoon. The driver was Antonio Sprigadelli, a twenty-five year old man who had recently started working for Cabina Gialla, a local taxi service (I used a translator to write the Italian so I don't know how accurate it will be). Both cars were now disabled. The nearby police force arrived right after.

The Piccolina had major front-end damage, but was able to be (mostly) repaired. The Burnside Taxi was replaced by a newer taxi, as the Burnside was totaled and sold for parts at an auction. The Stambecco was able to be fully repaired because it was a tank. The Barstow was able to be repaired, but because the owner was driving under the influence and jailed, it was resold. All four convicts were fine, and sent immediately to prison. Martha was seriously injured, because she flew against the windshield and broke her leg from the jump. Jeffrey and Susan were able to continue their honeymoon, as they weren't injured. Antonio had minor injuries but was able to continue his career with the new taxi cab.

Case: Rockslide + inattentive driver, April 22, 2021

Crash Description: Around 6 AM, a rockslide happened off of I-70 in Utah. The first driver in the accident, a 65 year old man in his Pessima, got hit by all three of the falling rocks, resulting in serious injuries and significant damage to his car. A car behind him, a blue Covet with a 22 year old driver, was slightly damaged. The accident caused both lanes of traffic travelling west to come to a complete stop. Around this same time, a mechanic at AJ's Auto Repairs was turning left off of US-191 North to go west, when his phone started getting an abundance of notifications. This caused him to focus on his phone rather than the road, which is considered distracted driving. When he approached the scene of the accident, he was going in between 80 and 90 mph, and he ended up slamming into a giant rock in the middle of the road.

Injuries: The auto repair worker died instantly when he hit the rock. The person in the Covet had minor injuries, while the person in the Pessima was severely injured

Location: Utah Highway, referred to as I-70 (based on irl maps)

    Cars Used:
Crashed: 2000 Ibishu Pessima, 1987 Ibishu Covet, 2009 Gavril Vertex
Stopped but not hit: 2021 Bruckell Bastion, 2016 ETK 854tc, 1992 ETK 2400ix

Aftermath: The 65 year old man recovered from his injuries months after the crash, and moved away from Utah. A funeral was held for the mechanic a day later
