Official Thread for "Realistic Police Lights" Mod This thread is to share developments being made, bug reporting, suggestions, answering questions, and just to have convos relating to this mod ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------General information This mod is still very experimental and a large WIP project. I have spent months optimizing this to be able to run on low-end PCs and have the smallest FPS drop possible, or just none. I have observed first-hand light bars and all their ELS (Emergency Lighting Systems) and putting that into this mod as best as I can. This mod also uses the normal lightbar model but I've been attempting to make a very good model. The lightbar uses custom lights. First mod, ever, go easy on me. Vehicles and Features The vehicles that are implemented right now: Roamer Grand Marshal Pickup ETKs The Roamer, Pickup, and Grand Marshal have headlight and taillight flashers! A few vehicles have menus for the LEDs, so you can make a Christmas tree of a car or very a minimal car! There are also different patterns you can choose, commonly referred to as "Flash Pattern #" (ALT+M). If you would like to help make this mod even better I will have things for you to do, feel free to DM me on here or Discord (user: War Daddy 2.0#7747) --- Post updated --- So I am currently working on updating the lightbar textures. It's just an "off" texture so when those LEDs turn off the LED texture for the lightbar appears off. Also making the lightbar colors more red and blue. As well as Amber LEDs to make a traffic advisor but that isn't going well.
View attachment 780746 --- Post updated --- But, without joking, I hope your thread will be successful. ^^
Just finished v12.5, hope you guys will enjoy it. Added an "off" texture and made the LEDs more R/W/B! I was working on other things, but they will require more time and it's pretty challenging stuff (for me). Enjoy!
More progress, working on textures and materials right now. Front: Rear Sides And the reference I am using --- Post updated --- It works! The Error Report...Not the lightbar..
This is the first actual working PROTOTYPE. it still needs A LOT of work but hey months of work somewhat paying off. I will have a follow up message to this later Also thanks @Kemro for helping.
Here some progress pics --- Post updated --- Oh yeah, LEDs don't work right now, I'll worry about it soon. --- Post updated ---
Would you be able to provide a map of which light corresponds to which name in the .jbeam file? I'm trying to make a custom pattern for the Grand Marshal and I haven't found an efficient way to find out on my own. Edit: nice
Hey, sorry for the late response. So, Blue 1 ("blue_1") is the innermost lights. Blue 2 ("blue_2") is the middle lights (next to white) and Blue 3 ("blue_3") are the outermost lights. The same goes for the red ones.
Thank you so much! This is gonna save me a lot of time. Looking at the .jbeam files, this must have been a long process... Love the mod!
You’re more than welcome. It did take a while, that’s why there’s not a large selection of patterns because it does require a lot of patience to get it timed right. Also thanks, glad you’re enjoying it. --- Post updated --- Oh also Pineapple, feel free to share the pattern here! I’d love to see it.
I made this pattern based off the 2nd default pattern. I would love to change the very inside lights to the colour of the outside ones so they are all uniform, but I see all the lights of one colour use the same part of the texture file. And I have no idea about texture mapping and if it's even possible. The pattern (gif)^ would be cool^
Oh I like it! The lightbar that is currently undergoing months of development will have A LOT and I mean A LOT of light pattern stuff. It already has well over 200+ parts. So, luckily for you that will be coming
Yep, every little LED can be programmed, just like what its based of off. --- Post updated --- For example, you can make patterns for just the outer lights, the front lights, traffic advisor, or the rear lights independently. With this implementation, it’s several more lines of code just for the patterns for all sides to work in the pattern. --- Post updated --- The glow maps for the LEDs, gonna work on more soon. Adding better textures too rather than the solid colors Kemro made in paint.net.
