View attachment 1165460 Yes. --- Post updated --- Yeah but I cannot find it in config and I did clear cache etc.
@stefan750 the fact you can perform an autorotation is absolutely incredible. well done on the simulation on this hell and absolutely fantastic job overall
@stefan750 Could I possibly get the old file without weapons, and the new engine? If so that would be great.
Hey man, just gave this mod a try, I'm very impressed of the improvements over hte original bell 407 mod, which tbh was quite a janky mess. Willing to fix a few things for you such as node and aerodynamic surface alignment, but it may cause unintended side effects. I could probably make a github repo to show changes or something, then you could import the changes you like or something. I don't like the unresponsive input smoothing, it would be nice to have an override. Perhaps set default pilot assistance to that mode, but have a function that allows the player to disable input smoothing and have quicker cyclic response. Having tuneable control limits would also be nice. Having throttle control would also be nice. I experimented on the dh super gnat with limited mil power as a "gameplay" factor and I think it could have some potential. Could also borrow the one-way clutch from the DH Gnat for a more realistic engine operation. Also there is a jbeam issue found - Similar to Darren's original DH Super Gnat helicopter, when the rotor spins up, it has a tendency to pitch the rotors down. I'll have to look into it in more detail later. Also the miniguns are very jelly
You can disable the input smoothing by setting the filter to "Direct" on the bindings in the controls menu. The steering limits also affect other behaviour like the assists, it would be difficult to make those adjustable without breaking other things in the process but I can try. What exactly do you mean by "pitch the rotors down"? I had some trouble getting the rather thin gun mounts to be stable when increasing the damping values on the beams, I could add some more support beams between the guns and fuselarge.
A bug has started in the new update that enables the heli to be shifted into neutral, as I use my left bumper to both downshift and for tail rotor left. So every time I turn the engine turns off
Yeah it looks like in the new update vehicle specific controls no longer override the default ones. Unfortunately I can't really fix that on my side, so I think we need to wait for a game update.
15/10 mod, i was about to give up on the original due to its tricky flying characteristics, the assists on this mod makes it insanely easy and enjoyable to fly! and the addition of weapons ups the fun factor ten-fold. thank you for breathing new life into this awesome mod! ps. this mod is best enjoyed when listening to fortunate son
Managed to do an auto onto the edge of the bridge here. I think that'd pass for a commercial check ride lol. Awesome to see this reworked, and hopefully we can see some Robinsons in the future here. It'd be interesting to see if somebody can accurately model the semi-rigid rotor issues it has. It would be kind of neat to see the helicopter be a bit more fragile on impacts but I'm guessing that might caught some weird behaviors? I imagine a part of what I'm thinking of is due to lack of major parts falling off, such as the tail boom.
Is there any way to stop it from falling downards in the slightest pitch forward with full colective on and auto level on? it's pretty much unflyable for me as when i try to fly it it continues to flip forwards till i crash, all i can do is take off and hope it won't flip even with auto level on. And how do i stop it from constantly going to the left? i know it is like this irl sometimes but how do i stop it without making the flight look bumpy where it wiggles from side to side?
Great mod! Just a bit difficult to control, since keeping the helicopter flying (holding T) and making sure you don't go forward too much that you tip over is a bit disorienting. I solved it by binding some of the movement to my mouse buttons (aside from collective up and down), but I have to disable it when flying non-weaponized variants. Is there a "recommended" binding for my controls? Something that can make it so that lining up the shot with weaponized variants is easier without using analog/axis-related controls? If not, it's still a great mod. Maybe I just have to practice more. Cheers!
This is beautiful and awesome. Thank you kind person for this hard work! I hooked up my hotas and it handles beautifully! Till now we only had the supergnat (Thanks to ZdrytchX for forking it and keeping it updated) and now, the Bell407 with fully working controls. Please, be well and keep up the good work!
Could you maybe add some parts to make the "military" variants resemble the OH-58 Kiowa? It's a military variant of the 407 and would look way more realistic, not to mention better than what we have currently... --- Post updated --- Well, not a variant of the 407, but both originate from the Bell 206, so I think it would be way more realistic, as well as better looking than what we have right now... --- Post updated --- Actually, it could be a Bell ARH-70 Araphado since it was developed from the Bell 407, and would most likely be a tad bit less work... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell_ARH-70_Arapaho
