I take no credit at all for this map or these changes. I just felt that it would be nice for it to be a little more up to date. Well, I downloaded this map the other day and noticed that a few problems had arisen with beamng 5.1. Because B25Mitch has probably moved on to things other than this map, I decided to fix some of the parts of this map that conflict with beamng's updates. Since this map is probably the only one on here with a complicated intercity interstate of sorts, I suspect that someone else might want these changes. So, yeah... Why did I spend my snow day doing this?... Changes -the cube-map reflection works -the map now has an info file -mild changes to textures and lighting -fixed sunflare Download The attached zip just needs to be placed in mods. Look to post 255 for a version with more improvements.
I did it to bring focus to riverside expressway's info and stuff. Someone else did something similar at some point, and I felt like replicating it. They probably did it to be secretive. I just did it because I thought it looked neat. Yeah, I should probably have adjusted it a bit more. The brown needs to be a little lighter and the reflections needs to be lot stronger.

This is really cool of you Ouerbacker!.....it isn't working for me though. As you can see in the screen below the non-current vehicle still exhibits the ugly flat look. I cleared all previous versions of this map out of BeamNG completely and also unzipped in various locations. I'm not keen on the cubemap thing but perhaps a line of code somewhere is preventing vehicles from reflecting properly? I'm with Hadacoolname 100% on this problem pretty much killing the visual splendor of this legendary map. EDIT: It's also caching the art files from GridMap and Industrial strangely.
Good to see those older map being updated, i'll wait for the final fix but this is great ! I would add that this map is broken since a lot of updates, if i remember well, at the end of this summer there were no more cubemap when i tried it.
mate that's sick haven't had a look over it all just yet ........... will you be adding in the city west end southbank .... that would be awesome if you did be a lot of work but worth it
I'll look into this stuff. It seems that yours is also not loading the new .mis, so I messed something up. I guess that this is what I get for doing things in a rush. It also looks like all of the lod stuff was relying on cached files, so that stuff should probably be changed over .cs files. Unfortunately, I am not the original creator and am just trying to bring the map up to date.
rand0m dude The goal for the time being is to get the old map to fully function in the current version of beamng. After this is done, I'll look into some variations. _______________________________ Here is a version with another round of fixes. The fixes in this version aren't very apparent on the surface. changes -All of the material.cs files, forest files, and other such things no longer cause this map to go hunting in other maps for things that it shouldn't touch. -The map is now built upon files that are named "expressway_classic," not "expressway." So, if your game generates a file named expressway, there is an old file lurking somewhere on your end. -some more minor texture changes -removal of some unneeded files
i was just thinking that thay should work ididnt know that that its not a feature and its good that u made the cars not look always matte and u putted the buildings at start that i cant see the ugly muddy bottom keep the good work up this map have been always my favorite map and thanks for making it better i wasnt angry i was just confused
Nice. Everything looks a little richer and you fixed the spawnpoint thank god. The additional buildings was immediately striking. I vote you in as the official caretaker of Riverside Expressway.
It SHOULD tho. Antway, it would be cool if some one decided to make lights work at night. It feels like the walking dead right now
