This evening, I was screwing around in Beamng on brutal slope, and I drove the ludricous electric sunburst 250mph in reverse. As it approached 250mph, it flipped over on me. It never did it going 300+ mph forwards. So why does this happen? (sorry the footage is glitchy)
Read his sig, Intel HD 4400, what one can except from it really? In Nascar they have had bit of issues with cars flipping over when they spin out, they have kind of flaps which are trying to prevent lift happening when car goes fast in reverse, but yeah, that is aerodynamics in action.
Sort of off topic, but I should of expected this to be able to happen. I'm amazed BeamNG has those physics....even though the wind app exists...ignore me...
lmao Its got a really 'underrated' physics engine just by putting the engine thermals app on my screen i learned so much more about how in depth this game really is.
that has to be the worst video/lag i have ever seen...i hope thats the recording software and not how you actually play the game?
Those indepth simulations of car related stuff is a big part of what people are missing out on, due to only crashing cars to infinity & they saying "BeamNG is a crashing sim"
1. Shitty lag 2. It is due to the physics of downforce, going forwards, the air under the car moves faster than the air above the car, making almost a vacuum which pulls the vehicle towards the surface, however, in reverse, the wing form would be backwards, meaning that the air ONTOP of the vehicle moves faster then the air below the vehicle, pulling it up into that flip you see, this is why planes cannot take off in reverse. As for why it flips and not just hovers, the biggest displacement of air is at the rear, or in this case, the front of the vehicle, with the wing. Because the wing is currently the biggest source of lift on the vehicle, it is where the majority of fast moving air pulls it up, meaning it becomes airborne before other areas of the vehicle, aswell, the centre of gravity is far back from the wing, meaning it acts as an anchor to the car, pulling it down, this being the reason why Nascars flip over when they spin out. If you where to, say, weld another sunburst wing to the hood, it is very possible it could equal out the centre of gravity issue and offer a short hovering similar to hydroplaning in reverse
Thanks for the answer. By the way, I was not experiencing much lag, apparently my recording software wasn't working properly, that's what makes it look so laggy. Normally, it works fine, but I don't know...
It's my recording software, it decided not to work this time. Btw, I get about 30 FPS average on brutal slope.
Your graphics are very low as well so I do suspect you're.... lYING Nah, just kidding anyway back on-topic.
