I may looked at a wrong regulations, but anyway, i wrote some average stuff - Bonnet: They must have at least two safety fasteners, both of which are clearly indicated by red (or contrasting colour) arrows. - The Minimum Racing Weight will not include non-compulsory items like driver cooling, team camera, radio, etc. - Flywheel Minimum weight 6kg (without fasteners) - Max brake diameter 382mm (width free); certified brand, diameter and bells - Steel brake discs (no ceramic coating allowed) Update: Yeah, i think i read one wrong document out of 2. We need just FIA GT and i read touring car also which is not our part
Yeah "Touring Car" refers to like WTCC/WTCR cars I also found: - Minimum ride height with tyre pressure ≥ 1.5 bar: 50mm - Engine swaps are surprisingly allowed, although certain things like the air filter etc. must be homologated, but it doesn't say that you can't swap the engine block for an entirely different one - Widebody is not compulsory (but maybe recommended) - Side deflectors cannot go past the perimeter of the splitter seen from above - Steering wheel design is free but the steering crown must be closed - Paddle shift design is surprisingly free Might update later if I find some more interesting stuff --- Post updated --- These two rules are true, the rest I couldn't find in the FIA GT3 regulations Oh yeah and: - ESC is forbidden, period - Only TC controlling engine output is allowed - Power steering is allowed - Unless specifically homologated, no other driving aids controlling any other systems are allowed
Alright, so upon reading this post I decided to delve a bit into GT3 onboards. If you want to keep the realism, I'd say go for sequential whine, because almost all of the GT3 onboard videos I watched have some very clear sequential whine in them while being driven. However, there is an exception, and that is the Renault R.S.01 GT3, which is about 95% VR35 engine sound, and 5% straight-cut gears: So it's up to you, really. As the head CEO of "E' X Motorsports", it's up to you to create the most visceral and immersive experience of GT3 racing to your fellow customers. Which one sounds more exciting to you?
i didn't want to have that choice really, but it's game coding at this point, as of now we decided that it's better to have engine than sequential, but we change our minds frequently
In this video, the sequential sound can be clearly heard. The RS01 is not special, as there are other videos of other GT3 cars that also have difficulty hearing the sequential sound. GT3 cars definitely need sequential sound.
They do, i agree, but at the moment we can't have both good unmuffled engine sound and sequential whine. I hope this will be resolved in next game updates, but as for now, not an option.
Update needed i guess, if someone still follows this thread. The work is still going, we have 3 devs and real life track drivers on it, as well as competetive ACC racers. We decided to wait beamng update for not doing any "hotfixes" in case something breaks or something significant will be added or changed. So far, Scintilla been tamed to GT3 level, the mod's phyisical calculations been redone almost from scratch, with correct physics' math in mind. And yes im planning to tame ETK K as well, we'll see what the update will bring us. Cheers. ------------------------ I'll drop a request again, for anyone interested in helping us with LUA - will be very welcome in our small team
Mild suggestion with the V8, you could ask @N0mN0m for the Scintilla V8 model and its respective parts, and also please make the V8 a separate engine and tuning from the V10.
We decided to go back to v10 but with different sound, we still have a v8 with also a different sound, but still thinking about it's usage, either keep as an alternative or to use in etk. Still undecided
Keep in mind that we have a V8 3D model coming for the ETKs, so you likely won’t need to use the V8 3D model unless you find something else for it. I’d personally recommend just modeling race car but for the road car ETK V8. From what sort of HP would be realistic, the race motor would probably be pretty close to the road car engine spec with modifications for less restriction (exhaust etc.) and potentially greater efficiency through that.
We don't have any 3d engines sadly, i tried to upscale existing Scintilla's v10 texture but it's undetailed, more like just a single color all over the block with AO map on top. Upscaling that - brought little difference. As for etk philosophy itself, i think M6 gt3 will be the closest match in terms of engine so we don't have to fantasize much about what it should be like, unlike scintilla which have almost no irl matches (opinions vary on it).
https://www.chevrolet.com/motorsports/corvette-racing/gt3 Corvette C8 GT3 is kinda similar with the Scintilla GT3 V8 since both are mid engined V8 supercars.
I like mclaren opinion given by one of our test drivers also aggressive Ferrari vibes from another tester with certain tuning.
Ah, OK. Your message came across as if you'd made a model that would be used in the Scintilla if you were to keep the V8, but I figure you were more than likely talking about the sound. As for IRL matches for the Scintilla, no there really aren't any but I'd probably treat it as if it was a Ferrari 488 or similar with a Huracan/R8 V10.
Well I am referring for the Scintilla being a mid engine V8 powered GT3 car, I'm sure there are a TON of samples like the McLaren, Ferrari, or even the Corvette C8 can be a mid engine V8 GT3.
