What are the cars typical of a certain social class in your area?

In Puławy, Poland, it would be:

    • Lower class - 90s depreciated family cars, mostly Mondeos, Golfs and Astras with their fair share of wear. Also some 90s economy cars (Corsa B, Polo Mk3, Lanos...), Japanese compacts (6th gen Civic, Almera Mk1) and early 90s VW Passats/Audi 80s/Mercedes-Benzes.

    • Working class - either late 90s German cars (VW Passat B5, BMW 5er E39, Audi A6 C5, etc.), or 2000s cars without a huge reputation for reliability (e.g. Peugeot 307, Ford Mondeo Mk3, Renault Laguna Mk2), or 2000s subcompacts (Fiat Punto, Opel Corsa, etc.),

    • Lower middle class - 2000s midsize diesel wagons or compact/midsize SUVs/crossovers. Opel Vectra C, Volvo V70 Mk2, Peugeot 407, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Sportage Mk2... that sort of thing. If they prefer something smaller, it'll be a compact hatchback or wagon (Astra H, Focus Mk2, Mazda3 Mk1...).
    • Middle class - mainly affordable late 2000s midsize cars and crossovers - Mondeo Mk3, C5 Mk2, Mazda6 Mk2, Outlander Mk2, CR-V Mk3...

    • Upper middle class - as above, but with more luxurious models - V70 Mk3, A6 C6, W204, XC60 Mk1, X3 F25... Sometimes cheap new cars, like Clios or Corsas.

    • Upper class - brand new cars on the more affordable side (Cee'd, Sportage, Tiguan, Outlander, Kadjar, 1-Series, Kuga...)
    • Wealthy - luxury German cars: Audi A6/A8, BMW 5er/7er/X5, Mercedes E-Class/S-Class, Porsche Cayenne/Panamera, etc.
How does it look where you live?

Lower class- beat up ford fiesta, citroen saxo/peugeot 106, pretty much any mid 90s-early 2000s economy car in bad shape.
Lower middle class - Brand new german luxury cars, usually base model diesel BMWs and Mercedes
Middle class - Brand new german luxury cars, usually base model diesel BMWs and Mercedes
Upper class - Brand new german luxury cars, but they can actually afford them.

Welcome to portugal, where the cars are brand new but the culture of appearance is still 3 centuries old :)

Didn't you have a debt crisis or something because of that?

Pretty much yeah, it seems nowadays if you have a balance of exactly 0 in your bank account, you're doing pretty well in life.
It should be noted that our new government is much better than the guys we had before, and they're definitely working successfully to make the country better economically and socially. So it's not going to be bad forever, I hope :)

    There's no discernible difference here.

People tend to live beyond their means, so it's fairly common to see (leased) premium cars whatever the "social class" of the driver.

    Society of apparances...
