This seems like one of GM's ways of keeping a brand alive by lightly restyling an existing car. I love it!

ok, so I only really get to work on this on weekends, so I figured id push some sort of alpha today so you don't have to wait longer, its strange, all the files for the custom badging and steering wheel emblems are in the folder and the old ones aren't, but the game is still showing all of the stock badging in the modded positions, anyone know why?

anyway, im happy to release Soliad 4000 alpha 1.0, beware, im including the rim model for access but it wont load in game unless you want to replace it in the common file. I currently have it overwriting the sports legran mesh wheels for ingame testing, but its not integrated into the mod yet. the textures are also broken as fuck for the same reason as the grille was and im wondering if there is another way around it, anyway here is a screen of what the rims and badges look like for me in game
But...... This file is in the folder......

I just downloaded my own alpha on my laptop and realized that the badges, steering wheel, and headlights had no material, its possible that I didn't rename the textures for them in the g4000 dae and my game on my other pc was fetching the files for those materials from my stock legran. that would explain why my new textures weren't loading in before, let me check, if im right, ill release 1.1

Even if it has missing textures, I still like this mod idea.

I was 100% right about that problem, im uploading version 1.1 now, the badges are mirrors, and the steering wheels load in correctly :D only drawback is that the 4000 is 0004 instead, don't know why, but that is the final "4000" badge design, I downloaded the font that they use for Pontiac badging

Really nice work. Keep it up man. And can somebody build a firebird maybe? or make a fake FB T/A skin for the S4000

While this is a subtle modification, this surely will be awesome all by itself. While the Celebrity, Ciera, Century versions were hideous, the 6000 wasn't entirely too bad. Sure the Bonneville produced around 91 was LOADS better and so much nicer looking, this 6000 was a good solid confident car in it's own right. It was also no where near as hideous or as much of a 'Le Granny Bucket' in it's own right as the other 3 mentioned. You can't trademark a number, btw, so using a 6000 in the name doesn't technically violate laws anywhere (this is why intel used the name PENTIUM in 1995 instead of 586, because they couldn't trademark 486 and then AMD and Cyrix also made 486 chips).

Now if I could only talk someone into making me a 92 mercury sable (or a 2003 one, or a 94 taurus), this game would be gold, as I used to own all 3 of those cars. I was such a sucker for cheap comfy cars in my 20s (I have a Toymotor Crammy, I mean Corolla now and I hate it's guts!).

While the Taurus was generally at home going to the super-market or parked in your family's driveway at any given point in the late80s to mid-90s, the SHO Taurus was really awesome in the 89~99 model years. Ford had a contract with Yamaha to fulfill and surely they did that and more. Quite enjoyable car it was too. Heck, the best part was having a sports car + comfy family sedan all in one.
Sure a little offtopic, if you'll excuse, but this was the place/time to mention it.

    I found a bug lol
If you have this mod enabled maps won't load
but if you disable it and then once you load up a map enable it, it will work
looks good though and I like how the engine flies out of the car lol

hmm, I didn't do anything to the engine jbeams, and I have no idea why it would be causing that map issue, its pretty much just the legran folder with some edited models and textures and everything renamed to G4000. it might be on your end, has anyone else noticed that?

I was thinking of doing the STE trim package which includes gold trim and rims kind of like the 70s firebirds, if someone wants to make a soliad bird hood skin, id credit them and then put it in the folder as a paint design, still even though the gold/black ones are cool, I always had a preference for the white/blue firebird/camaro design

gold trim Pontiac ( I also want to add that spoiler)

i like those rims, made 'em separate and got texture on the spokes, sort of
    screenshot_00000.png
and i have to say i like the new facia and parts, like many manufacturers did in the 80s and 90s, rebadge it to everything :D

a bit more edited (texture and inner old bruckell rim part to fit with new spokes, not really well made but you don't see it from outside;)),
@Warble, PM me if you want them
