[SOLVED]For basic tasks will a 35W chip use more power than a 15W one

    Like with the same architecture, same core count same usage.
    Basic usage being web browsing video watching and word processing.
    Like here are 2 processors.... Core i3 7100U vs i3 7100H

    I think that they will be roughly similar, roughly because they both get to clock down, do they have the same Voltages? I know the H series can be undervolted by a small margin but they are both reasonably power efficient right...

    Anyone got a KabyLake H series CPU? roughly what CPU Package power does video watching on iGPU do and how is idle consumption..

    i think the energy consumption will be the same when you arent doing anything cpu or gpu intensive tasks

    The core voltages are not the same and increase power draw. You've also got a different graphics chip in the H SKU along with larger pcie and memory controllers, all of which will increase power draw.

    Which isn't to say H is bad. It just will naturally be higher when running higher voltages and with more powerful peripheral sets
