    Hi there,

I'm new to Beam NG and just today switched GPUs, so it might be a problem with the new hardware. I'm not new to PCs though and can handle technical terms ;)

When playing Beam NG the screen flashes black, more or less depending on the pace of the game on screen with a full black screen when a lot is happening, but the HUD etc stay visible. This is limited to actual gameplay. It also seems to be restricted to Beam NG alone, if you were wondering about that.
I'm using a GTX 460 with updated drivers, no recording software is running. I tried different resolutions and graphic detail settings, full screen and windowed (with and without borders), V-Sync enabled and disabled. And the game is up to date.

Any ideas? I find the unaffected HUD especially strange.

    Thanks for your help.

SOLUTION: Activating HDR fixed the problem. Some sort of texture rendering problem.

Do you have any program that places an overlay on the game?
Does it happen in Fullscreen, Windowed?

Thank you for the quick reaction!

It does happen in both full screen and windowed. I am running the Steam version and deactivated every overlay option available (Overlay itself, streaming, FPS counter), but the problem persists. My GPU driver crashed heavily an hour back though (Windows Update got in its way), but it's working again, so I assume it's not a faulty driver installation.

I'll try the DRM free version later today and report back.

Wiped the driver off the hard drive, ran a clean up, disabled the Windows Update, restarted, downloaded and installed the driver using the Nvidia website, restarted and checked again for updates. It is running fine now.

I thought the Steam-less version should have no overlay etc running, so we could check if that is the problem.

I've recorded a video of my problem as I find it really fascinating. What could be the reason that anything but HUD and menu flickers? Any ideas? I love to hear about that kind of stuff ;)

try a clean instal on beamng drive and remove the beamng drive folder in documents (back up any mods if needed i suggest removing the mods because some may be outdated and cause the issue)

That should have been my first thought, DHCraymond. I'll be back with a report in a few minutes.

    It's even worse now :D :(
I'll try the Humble Bundle version (though it is 0.5.3.2.2036) and see if the bug is present there, too.

Problem also present in the Humble Bundle version (0.5.3.2.2036).
No Skype, but TeamViewer or Hangouts would be options, though no mic usable atm...

Switching GPU's not an option. The old one is not capable of running Beam NG in a playable state and I don't enjoy switching out hardware and installing drivers for hours that much ;D

    Sweet.
Also, you shouldn't use FPS limiter. No reason to use it you are already using Vsync more likely.
FPS limiter tends to create micro-stuttering sometimes. (known issue)
