Yes, much better in my opinion Probably you like this road texture, probably with a few edits (not mine, I also found it on the internet at some point): To make the white lines in the middle, IMO it's the easiest thing to add a new transparent layer over the texture and give it an oppacity of like 80%, then draw a white line in the middle, save the file as .xcf (if you use Gimp), .tga (if you use paint.NET) or .psd (if you use Photoshop) as I think they should save layers without merging them. This way you can easily edit the texture over and over again without much work, you just gotta export it as .dds and whatever you saved as before.
thank you ! this texture is more beautiful. the details are finer and less repetitive. I'll see what i can do with. make a mix with this one and the mine, because the .xcf, .tga, psd and dds and layers are things that i don't master not at all at all... Just some Paint basic. but I'll manage
I can't exactly help you with paint, but with Gimp I could do so, and I think it's not too different with Paint.Net In Gimp you open the texture, and on the right you see a window with layers, the history etc. Right click on a layer -> Add new -> type name if you want to -> Press Ok, a new layer is now added. Select the layer, on the top there's an opacity bar, you can play around with it a bit to get the best result at the end. You can see through this layer, as it's entirely transparent at the moment because there's no colours for it yet. Just get the pencil and start drawing your straight line on it (or select a part of the layer), since you use layers you can simply get the rubber to remove parts of the lines again and stuff, so it's not hard to get differnt line types or tweak one to be perfect.
and after, I save it in jpg ? in dds ? need to export or i don't konw whatelse? because I've would one time to just modify the color of a plant in .dds , wich was already in the game, and that not worked. i could select her but she doesn't appear ... :/ otherwise I've a method very simple. I open the two textures in Paint (paint all short (tout court) not paint.net. There is no layer in the mine). I do a copy / past of the white line well clean and placed. and I save and that's all I let in jpg. and I keep "my" textures in blue and black/white for shadows and light but i'll try your method. in all case, your information will be useful to me for the futur ( when i will be better with a computer)
Oh, I think you shouldn't be sticking with the standard Paint, I personally suggest you Gimp, others like paint.NET more, they're both free and you can try them out. About exporting, I usually export as .xcf (Gimp) or .tga (paint.NET) so that all layers and stuff are saved, you should edit this file all time. Don't put it into the zip for BNG though, it's for your for easier editing. Then export as whatever you want, I think dds is best, for BNG.
i've allready done modification on my road texture, who is in jpg, with paint and that work well. But yes the T3D ,beamng, is specially design for the .dds. So, i'll use Gimp, later, as i have download it few days ago "Don't put it into the zip for BNG though, it's for your for easier editing." That is to say? I must use unziped? i never work with zipped file. Or i just put it a my desktop, by example ?
What I mean with this is: -Open the texture with Gimp, do you changes (two layers), save as .xcf. Put this .xcf in some work folder you have, I don't think BNG recognizes it. -Export the same file as .dds, put this one whereever it belongs in the zip. This way you can always edit the .xcf file, because it's easier than editing a .dds file and simply export it.
Having looked for some other textures than the one I posted above, I found these, you might like something from there, too: http://texturelib.com/#!/category/?path=/Textures/road
hi, i've tested the texture that you have posted here but she doesn't really please to me ... I've founded and tested some others but it's same. some are ugly, sometimes the render have a problem . From close it's fine but from afar it twinkles ... (because/in more) I have added an other texture for the light reflexion and the distant render doesn't work anymore. But well, that doesn't bored me, because he was too close. Super for your site ! Here I've founded one who please to me. I've tinkered her for she correspond to the shadow and light textures (with the white lines). Finnally the result is not bad ! look, before and now. (also the road is now less wide on all its length . pffffffffffffffff Zzzzz So boring so long) --- Post updated --- 9-2-16: I was hopping that the update 0.5.2 will have corrected the problem of the low fps with the skid marks on the mesh road, but it is not the case. It's when even really pity to have available tools in the editor who make bugs. I'm VERY tied to spend hours and hours on a map who doesn't correctly. I go to finish my scenarios quickly , upload, and that's will be very fun so much it's unplayable. And I'll come back when the pigs fly bye
I'm sure the bug with skidmark lag will definitely be fixed at some point, devs always said they're working on performance improvements and I think this is on their list. I'd personally be sad to see this map dieing and you leave the forum, as it's really nice and different to others, but in the end it's your own decision.
mmmyes, as we say, l'espoir fait vivre ... it's painfull to wait a thing who don't come ....... deing ? no. finish yes. But i go to stop to break my head with the road. I go to finish my scenars. and that will certainly all. I haven't planned to make something else. exept take holidays, play other games, make an other map later in all case, thank you for your support, because i haven't the feeling that this map interests lot of people --- Post updated --- update uploaded today

I just see that the scenarios doesn't work .... I go to search a solution. But, for the moment, if you want to play them, you can do this: go to document/beamng.drive/mods 1 extract the stairway_mountain.zip 2 change the folder structure ( levels/stairway_mountain ----> JUST stairway_mountain) 3 pack the folder "stairway_mountain" in namming him "stairway_mountain.zip" or 1 extract the stairway_mountain.zip 2 open this folder "levels". copy "stairway_mountain" in document/beamng.drive/levels This two ways work for me
Original file path in .ZIP: stairway_mountain.zip/stairway_mountain/levels/stairway_mountain Change file path in .ZIP to: stairway_mountain.zip/levels/stairway_mountain This file path in the .ZIP is the reason that the level does not show up when zipped.
your method doesn't work for me Do this --> Change file path in .ZIP to: stairway_mountain.zip/stairway_mountain

If the map and scenarios doesn't work, please, erase the "db.json" file into documents/beamng.drive/mods. A new will be created automatically and the mod will work I go to wait some few days for see if there are not bad feedbacks. If all is ok, the status of the map will pass to Release
