Awesome is there some kind of video of it, and is it practical? (witch i know is user preference) --- Post updated --- in a quest for answers i already viewed that video, but i am looking for a Beamng.drive specific video in where is explained how and what it does
I don't think there is a video about it. Personally I found the Steam Controller uncomfortable for my likes
in a quest for answers i already viewed that video, but i am looking for a Beamng.drive specif and that says alot coming from a staff member (at the moment i fixed the twitchiness of the Xbox controller and the keyboard buttons by using my mouse but that is also not perfect)
maybe a nice fix for the next update? where you can adjust the steering speed on the controller? or where it doesn't want to go to centre when you release the joystick?
not centering means your deadzone setting is incorrect (the deadzone on microsofts controllers in particular is hideous). Also try tweaking the linearity to your liking.
? You mean the Xbox controller? If you have problems with the auto-centering, you may need to increase the 'Deadzone' of the steering thumbstick. Xbox Controllers are very sensible to deadzone, quite impossible for one of them to keep perfectly centered without using any deadzone. 'Linearity' value ingame will make you control the sensitivity (it's like a curve. The more non-linear, the less sensible the steering will be near the center.
you need close to 0.25 for one of my 2 xbox controllers, BeamNG default is 0.1. Microsofts thumbsticks do have terrible return to centre and are quite prone to wear, its why I am considering playstation controllers for the future. You can also try changing the filtering between key/pad/direct to see if that helps.
i have set my dead zone to 0.25 (and minus 0.25 ) the annoing part now is gone thanks. but the real problem i meant is when you steer in a real car and you're trying to compensate you don't throw the steering wheel all the way around in like 1 second, it takes time i you know what i mean (i will try to make a video where i explain it)
Linearity setting, as I said, will make small correction easier. I use 1.25, but use whatever you feel good.
but where do i find the linearity setting? in this video you will see my settings setup (somewhere around the 0.40 mark)
The same place you found the 'Deadzone' setting. Controls > Force Feedback > Steering (click on it) > New window appears > Linearity
Filtering set to key is absolute worst for me, that deliberately slows it down. Linearity was renamed sensitivity it seems, forgot about that.
Ah yeah, it's 'Sentivity' now. You shouldn't set a 'Thumbstick' to 'Key' filter. Set it to 'Automatic'
I can't understand the video. The steering isn't holding in a direction or it's you doing that? I think you messed your settings, some stuff aren't how they are supposed to be. Only leave the Sensitivity and DeadZone to what they were. Of course, don't set deadzone too high if not needed, or you will loose part of the thumbstick movement. (Or press the RESET ALL button to set all the controls to default, including the bindings). If the steering is too sensible, increase the 'Sensitivity' value (Yeah, it's misleading, the higher the value is set, the slower the steering will be)
the steering was that way because i tapped the joystick (to simulate my game style) --- Post updated --- AAAAAAAAAAAH........ that seem to fixed the problem, i deleted my old input settings (Xidevice) then cleared cashe and now it is alot better (i was still having the xidevice setting from like a decade ago :/)
