As some of you might have already noticed, we started giving out steam-keys via the order page. The system will completely replace our own updater/launcher so that we can focus more on the game itself Since Steam takes care of the whole content distribution/update, we can concentrate our resources to improve the game instead of an updater/launcher system. To get your steam key, simply visit your order's page and follow the instructions there: http://beamng.com/service/latestorder Some more info: In case you lost your order ID or the page does not work, please contact us here. Once the system is working a bit better, we will inform all customers via email of the switch to steam along with their keys. (And yes, a blogpost about it) The game itself cannot be bought on steam yet, that will come later. On steam, you get the latest prerace update (currently at version 0.3.4). The friction update is not ready yet as we are still wrangling with the virtual filesystem. You can unlock, install and play the game via Steam. You just cannot buy it via Steam yet. (You can buy it via Fastspring still) Steam will keep the game up-to date itself, no need to care about updating anymore, it will happen automatically. The game will self-update all the way through development: alpha > beta > released
Not sure if that was just me, but the game ran by default a lowest settings and with all postfx off. Also it was using OpenAl instead if directsound, which made the ambient sound incredibly loud. I mean, that's not such a problem, but for some people it will go for "why my game look so bad? Why sound is so screwed up?"
whats in there is exactly the prerace update, not more and not less. So yes, we are working on those problems.
Ok looking forward to next update also - - - Updated - - - Wait one question when beamng does get released on steam can we still keep the beamng we activated with the steam key?
Thanks - - - Updated - - - Glad to know that you guys can focus on the game more without needing to bother with the luancher and updater
Yeey Steam. Sadly the overlay doesn't really work in linux emulators, so i will have to turn it off. When is the Linux, or just OpenGL client coming out?
That one is not ready yet, we are still heavily working on it. It will be still some time to a 'stable' version.
You can actually check the torque3d git repo to see how far along the linux port is, BeamNG requires that to be completed first.
Awesome, but please stop the inputmap udpate. It's pretty annoying when you do your own layout and it's gone after every tiny update.
You can create a folder called custom within the inputmap folder and put custom mappings in there, the updater doesnt overwrite them yet the game still loads them. Looks like the input system is getting an overhaul anyway.
So I assume that you install mods via OS C:> Program Files (x86)> Steam> Steamapps> common> BeamNG.drive ? EDIT: Tested it. It works.
Little effort but more time i already figured out how to add mods to beamng when you get it from steam
Just got it off steam, seams to work great so far Just don't forget to re-do your settings after installing ! Well done team !!
