Is the train going to have manual steering as an option?

Ya, but how are you going to get the train on the rails? Will it automatically spawn on the rails?

there's no way within beamng to have it automatically spawned on rails, node grab it or park d15 on rails and switch vehicle or use map editor to move it to rails

Not quite true, the map designer can place the train using the editor and save its position and orientation. That way, the train will spawn on the tracks at the level's start.

Granted, it could cause issues if the map were to be started without the train mod being installed. But the map maker could bundle the train within the map's .zip file.

I am creating a Tennessee map, that's going to have a lot of rail in it. Miles and miles of real track from real terrain to run on. I need specs on your train model and how to work the rails into the map properly. I know ouerbacker's got some models made up for tracks. Maybe with a little collaboration, we can all work together here on this. I'll message more in private. I was originally just going to do 2d rail bed and ballast graphic with 3d rails, but someone alerted me you have a working train here. It would be a wasted opportunity making realistic/semi-realistic tracks if you've already got a train coming up.

its in game. Its working, though you require 1 beta map out of a closed testing group, one that I am not actually in, yet I have the train

Does anyone have a wider-radius (more realistic) curve than this available for tracks? I need a longer, more drawn-out curve, and I can't stretch the piece out without changing the track gauge incorrectly. I'm aiming to create 100% realism here, which is well within my ability to do (see maps Nevada Interstate, a highly modded highway-added to Black Hills, and my original map So-Cal Interstate). I built both those highways, I'd like to add the local train tracks to this section of real TN, USA terrain (Near Harriman and Rockwood, including those towns, a 12mile x 12mile spot of land, with all the local road infrastructure). I can entirely do with these little small model-train style corners, but I mean, real trains can't go around corners that tight at anything over 5~8mph without popping off the tracks. They're good for a loading spur or siding, but I am looking for some mainline stuff here - not 50' long 45 degree angles like in Transport Tycoon... heh!
Totally not complaining, but entirely making something 100% real and awesome here. I waited over 20 years to mod stuff like this on the PC, and now I can. This isn't OpenTTD/Transport Tycoon anymore here ya know :)
If anyone has anything like these - even if you link me to a rig-of-rods map with compatable DAE's (provided I can texture these at all from within the game - I have NO blender skills), I might be able to get closer to my goal here.

A train for Beam is truly awesome and I want nothing more than for everyone to have some truly awesome places to take it. Let's work together and make this happen.

Well, I need the ground ones mostly, There will be a bridge or two, but I can make the bridge body engulf the base of the track model to hide it, no big deal there. This is rural area, so there's plenty of space, no need for cramped corners (though the end of the line does have harder corners, the main line doesn't). I'll need to be able to make splits - even if switches dont work, ill still add in some track to mimic that (I can overlay it and put the unused spur or deviation below it a few inches). I need something that'll be able to let me mimic the rail line in full. If they're pre-textured models, that's a plus. Whatever works with this train would be great. I can script them in if need be, that's a non-issue. I just need better corners. Ability to climb hills would be a BIG plus as there's a few sections with like a 2~4% grade if that - it's very very very shallow grade. This is modeled after a set of real train tracks near the Harriman TN USA area.
EDIT: All tracks will be placed the ground - on the terrain, they won't be sticking up much out of the ground, only enough to look realistic, the terrain will form most of the 'hump' of ground the tracks sit on, with just a bit of stone/gravel rail bed that the wood ballasts sit on protruded. Only exception is one bridge that goes over the road, but the embankments on either side are earthen. So I can use the ground tracks, I don't need raised wooden trestle or anything (currently).
