In which case there's plenty of them out there and adding Steam Workshop won't really change anything. That's because the devs didnt set it up properly I suppose. Like in this picture: I don't want it to be complicated. Currently it's very impractical.
just stop asking, the devs have their own repository planned, they will most likely not be using steam workshop, as if they did only use steam workshop they'd have to make the game steam only, which they don't want to do
Sorry, but I'm just afraid that there will be a very impractical system in the end. Why not both though? Steam Workshop doesn't mean you're unable to download from other sites. Not sure what you guys have against Steam Workshop...
I will not be impractical if they do it right. Look at the ROR repository; neatly organized and easy to find what you are looking for. If they do it like that it would be a completely practical system.
I know I might be getting on the nerves of you all, but this is something I really care about. The game must be accessible, and currently it's rather not. Sometimes I don't even know what to do with the files, sometimes the instructions are very unclear, and sometimes it'll break my game (right now I have no tires for certain Gavril-Ds and a abomination of a "skin" on it...). I had a very quick look at the ROR depository (That one, right? http://www.rigsofrods.com/repository/) and those issues are most probably not addressed. When I install from the Steam Workshop I click on "+Subscribe" and it's working. Why should it be complicated anyways?
Tdev stated on another thread there will be a own repository in the near future. I dislike the idea of the workshop because there would be no control of what people upload there, while with a proper repository they can give a quality control to everybody before it goes public.
You can't talk about 'accessibility' and 'game' because this is not a game yet. This "game" is still essentially a tech demo. Yes it will be a game but as of yet it is not and should not be advertized as such. It will become more accessible in the future as it becomes more gamelike.
