...Nikolai Glebov, a corrupt Party official who wanted a special car to show off his power.

However, in 1987, a campaign against corruption in the Party led to his car being impounded and scrapped as a warning to other corrupt officials.

    NEW STORY OF A CAR:
In 1978, Mrs. Juno Arnolds, a 47-year-old high school History teacher from West Side, Waco, Texas, bought a new car to replace her crashed 1968 VW Beetle. The car was a base model brand-new Datsun 310 hatchback, a small and basic, yet good enough car, with the only extra being rustproofing.

The Datsun served its owner pretty well for years, but by 1993, it got quite worn and slight rust started showing up on the wheelarches. Seeing that, Mrs. Arnolds decided to put it up on sale in the local papers. Finally, it got sold for $200 to...

Jim Carrey. He used it as an daily when driving around L.A, and repaired the vehicle to drive better. Then, he replaced the wheels with an Ford Crown Victoria wheel from 1991 to make it look less cheap. Then in 1995, he sold it for another Ford, and auctioned $360 to...

...the parents of Mike Brudzinsky, a rather poor Astronomy student on a scholarship. They gave him the car after his high school graduation ceremony, and right after the holidays, he went with it to the university.

However, in 1997, Brudzinsky was driving it under influence after a party. The Datsun was crashed into by Alfred Richmond, an owner of a 1981 Ford F-350 with a bullbar. Nobody was really hurt, but the Datsun suffered enough damage not to be worth fixing.

The crash was Richmond's fault, but Brudzinsky's intoxication would mean he would get punished, and probably sent to jail. Understanding that, Richmond gave the Datsun's owner $150, and they decided to part ways.

Next day, the vehicle was found by the local police department and impounded. As the owner never came to pick it up, afraid of being questioned, it was sold in a police auction for $50 to a junkyard.

    NEW STORY OF AN OWNER:
In 1978, Nikolai Drozhovsky, a 39-year-old Soviet immigrant in New York, decided to buy himself a car after 14 years in America. It was to be his first car in life.

The vehicle was a $300 1965 VW Beetle 1200. It wasn't much, but got him to his temp jobs and did not consume that much fuel. Unfortunately, in 1984, the Volkswagen's engine threw a rod, and the basically-worthless car was scrapped. Its owner came back to using public transport, but in 1986, he was ready to buy himself a cheap $400 car - a...

    (Let's say it was 1990)
...as a temporary car, but, being an old British car, it was a total POS.
It was quickly replaced in 1991 by an $500 1977 Buick Regal coupe with a 3.8 V6. The Buick served Mr. Drozhovsky, an American citizen since 1993, pretty well, being a decently reliable and comfortable car. In fact, he kept using it after he estabilished his own cleaning company in 1998 and had money to lease a new car.

In 2002, Mr. Drozhovsky decided to sell the company, move back to his now-independent home country of Estonia, joining the Russian diaspora in its borderlands, and live off the company money and US Social Security. He decided to ship his Buick with him.

However, in 2004, the car had a conrod problem. Seeing how much harder it was to source Buick 3800 V6 parts in Estonia than in the USA, he decided to sell the Buick as an enthusiast's special and get something more practical in a small Estonian town below 40k kroons (about $4000 in today's money). He bought a...

1973 Skoda 120l. Because it followed the US import laws, he was able to own one. The first thing he did was give it winter tires, as he was hit by a snowstorm. Later on, he painted it vibrant red and added a few stickers to get attention. In 2011, he did something interesting; engine swap it with an Skoda Favorit engine, and actually worked. Still to this day, it is his favorite car ever since.

I'll edit this post to add the story.
STORY: In 1984, Kenji Yamasaki was looking for an nice station wagon, and he found it.... the Mitsubishi Expo. As an Mitsubishi fan, he wanted something fun to drive, and that car was an perfect fit. It satisfied him, as it had enough space to fit his items, and it drove better than above average for him. Then, after 3 years, in June, he found out about Volvo, and how safe they were, so he decided to sell his Expo for an Volvo estate, as the next owner would be...

Wait, how can be a Japanese man an immigrant in Japan?

Because the Expo wasn't sold outside Japan until 1990, when it came to the US shores.

...Ichiro Mayumi, a father of 3, who wanted a car that wouldn't break his bank, but would fit his family. The car performed well at this job, hauling his family for 6 more years.

However, by 1993, the Expo was quite aged, and its owner was looking for something newer and better. He sold the used minivan to...

car dealer Sakura Honda. She was intrigued into station wagons, and the Expo peeked her interest. Once she bought it, she called it the "Miracle of Mitsubishi". She did some modifications to the car, like an sport suspension, custom Sakura Tree livery (obvious), and an turbocharger from her Honda. In 1998, she decided to sell it for an 1982 Galant, and the new owner would be agent...

He worked for a Bangkok-based used JDM car import company, and bought the Mitsu as part of a package deal. The car was transported to Bangkok, set up for sale at the dealership, and sold to...

In 1976, Dobrosav Mihajlović, 25-year old electrotechnical engineer working in one Belgrade state firm, bought his first car. It was brand new 1976 red Zastava 101 Confort equipped with 1116cc engine with 55 HP. It was perfect car for his small family (he and his pregnant wife) because it was cheap and practical (with its 5th door). As most of Yugoslavians, he kept his car for years, until 1989. Stojadin (nickname for Z101) was well kept and maintained, so at the end of his ownership, the car was pretty much brand-new. Then, he got white basic 1989 Mazda 323 1.3 Sedan, thanks to his director position. Import taxes was high for non-domestic produced cars, so that's explanation why he had such a cheap car. Mazda served him long, all the way to 2005.
Unlike Stojadin, Mazda was battered and broken due to bad fuel and non-proffesional repairs during the 90s. He abandoned Mazda in 2005 and bought another car, white 2002 VW Bora 1.9 TDI with 135K kms on clock. As every VW, his Bora is reliable and tough, and it serves him well. Speaking of Mazda, he didn't sold it, but he doesn't drive the Mazda. Mazda is located in his weekend lot, abandoned and rotten.
