i was trying to port part of the 0.3 world editor into 0.24, then i found a map, isolated in its own folder, called "blankroom". i put it into a levels folder and put it into a zip then putting that into my mods folder. unbelievably, a map popped up in my selector, i loaded it and it is literally a gray map. it looks creepy. i wanted to ask for your opinions on what the map could be because im confused at the moment
Funny you should say that actually, I looked in the files and apparently its “a default toque3d testing map”
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) lets see how this goes --- Post updated --- Did a bit more research on this and ive found out more on the map, Beamng used to (no longer) run on “torque3d” and that map was tourqe’s testing map, why its in beamng i have no idea. If someone can clear it up more it would be appreciated
Yeah. The very first video of beamng put on youtube was running on cryengine, they then switched over to torque, which they still basically use even though they said no code was left untouched.
Was that modified i didnt even know it used it lol --- Post updated --- What no, I have the og grid small pure and it looks nothing like that abyss
Yeah, BeamNG still runs on Torque3d, it's just heavily modified. You can tell by looking at this really old documentation on the engine, in the materials section there are the standard animation effects, as well as a few other things that are still kicking around in the game that are relatively the same.
It does for the physics, but for the graphics it uses torque. Even though it's so modified it could be named beamware lol
Found the map being used in some old Torque3D documentation, looks like it was just a default model viewing/editing map
